I must have one.
I've only heard rumors that it is still in the development stage.
Just curious.

Well, it's good to know the rifle is being manufactured.
Hopefully, it will be exported abroad.

This rifle looks like a moded stock 10/22 by the looks of the charging handle. 17 hmr is the $hit. I plucked a ground hog a few weeks ago at about 200 yards right in the back of the head. Mine is bolt action but has the heavy barrel. Scoped up too. Only ever used it to sight in at the range. Its my first varment I shot with it, and i tell ya Ill never get another .22 again.

afaik, .17hmr generates too much pressure to be safely used in a 10/22, which is a shame. i'm going to pick up a cz 452(?) in .17hmr soon.

the ruger 10/22 long rifle can be had in 17 mach2
the ruger 10/22 magnum can be had in 17 hmr
the 10/22 magnum has a longer receiver and I expect a longer, heavier bolt. Also you need a longer magazine to accomodate the 17 hmr compared to a 22lr.

I want to get my girlfriend a .17 hmr pistol. Light and way more deadlier than a .22. I just love the velocity and look of the cartridge coimpared to a .22.

Looks like a mini assault round. Theres only one bad response that I heard regarding the round. And that is on windy days the round looses accuracy compared to a .22. But at 2500 + fps. I dont think youll notice too much.

Is there an auto in .17 HMR ? By pistol you mean auto right? I know that there are quite a few revolvers in this caliber.
Five Seven is you're best choice, 20 round mag and velocity no .17 HMR can match out of 4.5" barrel. It was also designed for Military and LE not for hunting small animals like .17 HMR round.

haha the five-seven is illegal in many states especially Maryland where i live. And that pistol costs a great deal on top of that. If I were to get any weapon chambered in that round it would be the PS90. And no they do not make a .17 HMR in a semi auto varient yet. I am assuming that there will be one available in the near future since the popularity of the round is growing. Yes there are revolvers. taurus makes one that will be discontenued soon.

"At this time we have decided not to offer our lightweight 10/22 barrels and Pac-Lite uppers for the .17 Mach 2 cartridge. We have have safety concerns with the faster peak pressure curve of the .17 Mach 2 cartridge in our semi-automatic products. ALLIANT TECHSYSTEMS has also advised against the use of this cartridge in semi-automatic firearms originally designed for the .22 LR cartridge. We are continuing research and development with the .17 Mach 2 cartridge and plan to have future offerings in these products."
