Revolutionary!! This could change the way battles are fought!! woot The 'urban swarm' might be one day of little use. I wonder if it could counter IED's?:-*$

Is this the system developed by the Israeli's? if not, they have a similar one in the works.

Either way, very interesting and I hope it becomes a reality on the field ASAP.

I don't know much about the system. This link gives some info:

Concerning IED - as far as I understand, it won't help Trophy detects an incoming projectile and fires on it.

There is an interesting point on lack of re-loading capability. What about projectiles fired in pairs?

Can the Trophy be fitted onto a humvee?

I saw one insurgent video of a RPG attack on a Humvee the other day, and
that got me worried.

Not seen that video before! Thanks for that!

I wonder how many missiles it would take to overwhelm it though? There has to be an upper limit, or at the very least a limit to the number of "active defence rounds" the thing carries.

they should make the range even bigger, what happens when a plane drops a bomb on the APC?
if this system gets real big range and will be able to stop mortars fired not directly at it, artillery, airforce and RPG r history.....

This system will not be able to stop artillery or tank rounds.

it's a very good idea but there are a number of things that are still unknown (at least to me), like success rate, how many rounds does it carry?, will the crew alone be able to reload it or will it require a technical squad? does it jam and if so how frequently? will it able to stop multiple projectiles at the same time?

either way, IMI's Iron Fist system is supposed to be more advanced than the Trophy.

Arena, Trophy, Iron Fist ;]
Soon there'll be a lot of such systems and a lot of new anti-tank "toys".

The obvious next stage in tank vs anti-tank will be missiles with decoy dispensers...

but when u have all the simple anti-tank missiles out of the battlefield and there is a need for a country to make missiles like u said... we're fighting terrorists not a country :)

Well, even terrorists buy their weapons somewhere... look at recently, RPG7's don't scratch a Merkava so what did the Lebanese do... go shopping and upgun to something that could.

Even "terrorists" aren't stupid ;-)

As soon as this or similar systems become widespread someone will make a missile to counter it. If they are really clever they will make a RPG7 round with the decoy capability then everyone can have some fun for few dollars :-*$

but on the other hand , there is no western or eastern country that will face the need to make these kind of missiles, cold war's over and the only countries that might need these kind of missiles r probably unable to build them (arabs)..

Why would terrorists need RPGs? Terrorists attack civilians...insurgents attack US military

You are joking right?

Such missile systems and/or upgrades will be made by the various arms manufacturers very soon... if not already.

Remember governments don't make weapon systems, arms manufacturing companies do and then they sell them (usually to governments).

It has nothing to do with nationality!
