Cruzex is not an Air show, it's a military exercise. It happens every two years, 2008 comes another. Several countries take part in the military exercise. This year participants were Brazil (duh), Chile, Venezuela, Uruguai, Argentina and France.
France has a common presence in this military exercise. Last Cruzex we had our asses whooped by the French pilots using their awacs and their Mirage 2000 Cs, this year with our brand new Awacs aircrafts and our modernized F5s (with BVR capacity) we managed to even the odds.

Great photos!!

It would have been better if the FAP's Mig-29 or Su-22 attended or the FAE's Kifir CE.

It would be good if the Brazilians sponsored a Naval version of CRUZEX.

It would be facinating to see a Latin American Air Wing on the Sao Paolo.

Brazilan Navy's A-4 Skyhawks
Argentinian Navy's Super Etendards
Uruguayan Navy's S-2 Trackers
Paraguayan Navy's AS555 Helo (Plane Guard)
Chilean Navy's Cougars (ASW)
Peruvian Navy's AB 212 (ASW)

And of course escorted by the various frigates and support vessels of Latin American Navy's

Our Navy's Skyhawks are barely in condition of flying, small budget, only 4 out of 24 are in condition of flying. Last I've heard. :-(

Whats wrong with you????

The Brazilian Air Force might not have the latest Aircraft but their combo of AWACS and F-5M works well... In Cruzex the F-5M performed better than the French Mirage-2000, I remember reading about Mirage-2000 getting "shoot down" by the Brazilian Aircraft.

Dont be surprised if the Brazilian Air Force acquires some of the latests planes such as Rafale, SU-35, etc in a few years.

Oh please.

12 Mirage 2000s are a joke, and the Embraer F-5s are starting to show her age. Yes, their AWE&C (R-99) are good, but they are local so they get them for cheap (purchased Rio Sul airframes as well). For a "regional superpower",Brazil's AF is nothing short of laughable.

Brazil always cheaps out when it comes to getting new planes (Su-35, Rafale, etc, etc). What happened to the Black Hawks? ex. Qatari Mirages?

Yes for the importance of Brazil their Air Force is not so powerful, but still in the region which country has the capability to neutralize the Brazilian Air force??? Chile? with 10 F-16C/D Block 50+ and 18 Block 15 MLU? Venezuela with 2 squadrons SU-30MK2 and the remaining operational F-16A/B Block 15 OCU??? Peru with those old Mig-29?..... The Brazilian Air force has enough units to defend their country from any of the possible threats that can appear in the region, they dont have the means to achieve air supremacy, but they have enough to fight back any regional threat.

They might not have the latest equipment, but they are far away from pathetic....

What the FAB lacks in numbers is made up in its geography, balanced fleet, and its industrial capacity.

There's a lot of jungle and ocean between major Brazilian cities and its neighbors to the West, Europe and Africa. Any nation threatening Brazil will need to contend with distances. The FAB is well balanced to handle low intensity warfare, communications at isolated communities, air defence at metropolitan areas and providing logistical support for UN operations. Embraer, a Brasilian company, is number three in the production of jetliners in the global market after Boeing and Airbus. This industrial capacity allows the FAB with 'in-house' techinical support and manufacturing of combat aircraft.

Best defense: Brazil reputation of being pragmatic in global affairs.

Peru with those old Mig-29?.....

Ejem.... Excuse me, the Mig-29s from FAP are far cry from being old. They are around the same age as the F-16 MLU that Chile is buying. Besides that, those Mig-29 are not degraded export version, and can fight against any Aircraft in South America with a very good chance of kicking butt, specially for newbies or over confident people.

Those Mig-29s had already demonstrated their dissuasive capability in 1998. Nobody in the region can make such a claim. These aircraft ar ein line for their MLUs, so, again, they are as they should be, in their Mid-Life hours.

Best a/c in South America: (Temptative ranking)

1. SU-30MK2 AMV
2. F-16 Block 50 FaCh
3. Mig-29S (SE) FAP
4. F-16 MLU FaCH
5. Mirage 2000P - F-5 Tiger III Fach - MIrage F1 FAE - Kfir FAE - F-16 AMV - Mirage 2000 FAB - F-5 EMBRAER
6. KfIr FAC

And yes, The Peruvian Air Force in the 70s was prepared to fight even the Brasilian Air Force, alone, not with allies. But, we are friends. The only time the Viceroyalty of Peru - a loooooooooooooong time aaaaaaago - was threatened by Brasil, they were quickly dissuated on the contrary with a huge build-up (times of ViceKing Toledo, if i'm not mistaken, you can google it).

Nowadays, they can put up a good fight, but that is about it. But, since Peru is no threat to Brazil, never has been and never will be. Brasilians are simply way to nice. And guess what, Peruvians - despite all the insults, irony, disguised jokes that only a balding retard can understand - are also very nice.

The only item with the BRasilian air force is that they should have a much better air force than the one they have. They should, but they don't. To them seems to be enough to have F-5s and a few Mirage 2000s and that is more than OK with me.

Last but not least, Peru 'may' even buy theirs EMB-145 AEW&C. A very good a/c in their class. Sound business for Embraer.

Kindest Regards,

Well the Peruvian Mig-29S/UB are indeed old (just like the MLUs) and except for the 3 SE the entire fleet was first used by Belarus (not the kindest user). Yes soon the planes will be upgraded and modernized but so far they havent received any significant upgrade, am I right? As far as I know remained untouched.

I dont have any bad feelings towards Peru or their Air Force, I just used the term because dam the planes are indeed old and have not received the upgrades that other planes such as F-16s MLU have had. Anyway Im sorry if my coment hurt someones feelings.

Those Mig-29s had already demonstrated their dissuasive capability in 1998. Nobody in the region can make such a claim

The venezuelan F-16s scared the Colombian enough to avoid a conflict in 1987 (caldas incident). p-)

1. SU-30MK2 AMV
2. F-16 Block 50 FaCh
3. Mig-29S (SE) FAP
4. F-16 MLU FaCH
5. Mirage 2000P - F-5 Tiger III Fach - MIrage F1 FAE - Kfir FAE - F-16 AMV - Mirage 2000 FAB - F-5 EMBRAER
6. KfIr FAC

I would make some serious changes in that ranking but whatever... at least we agree in the first 2 and in the last one.

I hope Peru modernizes their fleet to SMT standard and acquire the AWACS that you mentioned.

and the point of quoting yourself without adding anything else is...???

Peru is upgrading their Mig-29 fleet because right now they dont have a chance against the Chilean Air Force, which is considered their main threat.

Mr Major,

Peru is not upgrading anything at this moment, and Chile is considering redirecting monies from the Armed Forces to their society, which really needs it.

The callampas and unhappy teenagers are growing rapidly.

So, you were saying ...

Well Peru is interested in upgrading their Mig-29 fleet to SMT standard. And as I said the reason is that Chile is greatly modernizing their Air Force.

I dont know why do you bring into discussion Chile redirecting money, but whatever if you want to go off topic and you want to bring random **** to the discussion (brad pitt and ****)...

The reason Peru is interested in MLUing their MIg-29s is because their are due for an MLU.

Brother,

Defence and Economics are not isolated, at least not since the Industrial Revolution. At least. Don't blame me.

The reason i bring Brad Pitt here is that i have the h*ts for Angelina. Isn't that enough ?
