Oh come on...It's a serious thread :bash:
In case you REALLY want to know why:
Today there are many T.V shows about the Holocaust since tomorrow is the memorial day for this "event" in Israel.
Now, one of the movies is about the Netherlands, which was always considered in Israel to be one of the few nations who barely cooperated with the Nazis.
This film is (I guess) about the "dark" parts of that history... according to the publications here this movie was censored (or just a part of it) in the Netherlands - and I just wanted to know if it true / how known is the story in the Netharlands.

why the 19th of april?
It goes by the Jewish calendar, so every year it has a different date.
This is the day when the Warsaw ghetto ended.

never heard of it only a rumor............
The netherlands was not that right as we often state... but My family did a lot for jews during WW2
Can't say I've heard of it... and though I can't guarantee for a 100% I'm pretty sure that if it was censored they'd propably get a 'politically correct' ****storm. Maybe if you could provide the exact title so I could dig easier?

Well, it has 2 parts, the first one was shown tonight - the second will be tomorrow.
Its mainly about what happened in Groningan. (The current mayor is a survivor who was also a minister or vice-minister of science)
The sad fact is that only 150 out of 3000 Jews survived the war in that area...
Although their were some stories about "bad" people who cooperated with the Nazis, I must say that the stories about the "good" people made them look small and not representative at all.

Oh...and as I understood from the film itself, only parts of it were removed - one of the people they talked to, "changed his mind" and asked them to remove his part of the film. (where he explains why he helped the Nazis and how good was it for him and for the others...)

this is so off topic but i have a question for the dutch members of this board, as i have always wondered about it.
what is the signifigance of the color orange? it is the dutch soccer team's primary color, but it isn't in your country's flag (the colors of your flag is red, white, and blue correct?), most other teams, except Italy use the colors of their flags in their uniforms (and what is the deal with italy wearing blue? any answer to that would be greatly appreciated as well!). And when i watched Band of Brothers everyone was waving orange flags. Is there some historical context attached to the color?

Well the orange is the color of the Kingdom...
back in the days there was the prins van Oranje(Prince from Orange) and from that day Orange (oranje) has been coppeld to the Dutch croun.
And nowadays it stands as the color of the netherlands.
