This is “blanc” rounds in a very long belt. What is so special or where is the problem?

Looks like some kind of blank ammunition? Strange to have the whole case coloured red though. It kind of looks like the caseless 5.56mm ammunition that the US has been playing with. Although I haven't heard of it being developed in 7.62mm at all.

Well when I was in the Norwegian armed forces the 7.62mm blanc ammo used to be red (just like the photo) and we called it "rød fis". When I was in the French army the same ammo was white. No difference, same sh**; plastic 7.62mm rounds, no big deal

The pic is hosted on a norwegian-site so i say it´s an norwegian MG3 and it is as Erik say, "Röd-fis".
I believe the manufacturer is Nammo AS (http://www.nammo.com/templates/Product.aspx?id=208)

There also some other ammo available for training purposes that is plastic cased. One of my buddies went to NTC at Ft. Polk with a styker unit and used "plastic" looking ammo on the .50 cal range. He was told it had the same characteristics as regular ammo out to a certain distance and then the energy was pretty much spent.
With live ammo they would have overshot the range.
But as stated by guys that know the circumstances in this photo better I would say it is blank ammo as well.
Let me ask this question to the guys that are familure with this ammo then. What kind of blank fire adaptor do you have to use with an MG3?

I think thats Übungsmuntion. They are made of plastic and pretty ****ty.I used them to shoot some MG exercises. 3 of 5 cartridges went in the barrel down...useless ammo

Yes, it is blanks, and its called "rød-fis" which means "red-fart"
It doesnt always work very well, but if you look after the bands before shooting them, and use a lot of oil in the gun, you may have a few hundred rounds without clicks. If you dont use enough oil, its like hell...
The blankfiring-device is a "flash-hider" without a hole for the bullets... But the gasholes around is still there, but a bit smaller than in the live "flash-hider"

We used in the Dutch army black plastic blanks with a aluminium bottum for use in the FN FAL rifle. The FN MAG used brass metal blanks. Germany uses green plastic blanks in their G3 and black plastic blanks for their G36.
I have pic of some different types of 7,62mm blanks that I have in my collection, but I don't know how to post it. I love the Swedish blanks; They have a red wooden bullet! Very cool!

I used green plastic Übmun for the G3 and it was crap. Dont even think of Feuerstoss mode if you dont want to pull 3 rounds at once out of the chamber.

There are two types of blanks used in the Bundeswehr for both 5.56 and 7.62 mm Guns - one is brass, the other made of plastic.
5.56mm plastic rounds are colored black, the 7.62mm ones olive drab.
@souljahP
The correct term for blank rounds in the Bundeswehr is "Manövermunition" - hence the term "Manöverpatronengerät" or "MPG" for the blank firing adaptor.
"Übungsmunition" is the designation for the blue plastic-projectile ammunition that can be used on small-caliber and pistol ranges or open ranges without the safety zone neccesary for real ammunition.

omg, forgive me im out of the "irrenhaus" for a few years now.
;)
that blue plastic-projectile ammunition reminds me of the "Waldkampfbahn" there we used it with our G36. but we needed another receiver to shoot´em.
(mal ne frage: ist "receiver" das richtige wort für verschluss?)

99% certain this photo is from a Norwegian army base.
MG3 7.62 "Rødfis" blanks produced by Nammo /Raufoss.
"Rødfis" is translated into red-farts, because the "bang" is not a real bang but more like a fart;)
All arms need a recoil enhancer and a lightweight bolt to reload.
"Rødfis" is also produced in most NATO rounds, 9mm, .233, 7.62 and .50

That is the MG3 blank. I don't have a clue why they make those two strainge rings in the body. The G3 blank is made of plastic. The oldest in my collection is dated 1973 and the latest 1999.

Curious, are you sure that is a MG3 and not a MG 42.

Completely...
The picture was taken in a Norwegian Army-camp (probably Rena), and it is in 7.62mm, and not 7.92 as the MG42...
