This may prove to be of limited significance, but I thought I'd post it.

Anti-terror raids in Manchester

Police gave few details about the Manchester raids
Police in Manchester have carried out raids under the Terrorism Act 2000.
Parts of Upper Brook Street, a main arterial route close to Manchester University, have been closed.

Police said a number of search warrants were executed on Monday morning, but more details would not be released until later.

Police said it was "a very fast moving situation and likely to change quickly," BBC News 24 reporter Judith Moritz said.

'Patience'

"A number of search warrants have been executed by Greater Manchester Police under the Terrorism Act 2000," police said.

"No other details are available at this time.

"We would ask for your patience and co-operation, as further details will be provided when possible."

Scotland Yard's anti-terrorism branch is not involved in the operation.

Police in Manchester confirmed that they were currently dealing with an incident at an address in Upper Brook Street in the city centre, but would not specify if this was linked to the raids.
