If you are familiar with the history of the Blackbird you should know that originally its name was the RS-71 but the president (cant remember whith one) made a mistake during the presentation. So from that day its known as the SR-71 Blackbird.
Its friggin beautiful, One at Duxford and my its amazing.

I remember on one of my tours in Korea seeing one. It was a weekend night, and I was on Osan AFB, when the Alert Siren sounded, then all the lights on the base went out. A few minuets latter, a set of runway lights came on, and a plane came swooping in, then the lights went back out. A short time latter I heard a lot of roaring, and looked towards the runways and saw it taking off under full power. What a sight... A few minuets latter, the all clear siren was sounded, and the lights came back on.
I thought back, and remembered asking my buddy why the Retreat Cannon was fired some days around noon? We fihured they were doing some type of test firing. I guess it was the sonic boom of the SR 71 over head, headed north.
