@rantanplan
ok it was a competion for austrian and german mountain troops. a team had 8 soldiers. on the t was 9 teams from austria and one team from german .they had to marsh with a 30 kg backpack 41 km during the alps.
during this time they had to do some exercises like alpinshooting, helping kamerads, housefight, biwak, airlift in the mountains with helis and climbing on bare rock (3+)

the winner was an austrian team in 13h and 20 min.

Look at the blue ammunition!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why these boys shoot them. Because normally they are used for shooting in the forest in order to keep the damage of the trees as low as possible. They do not penetrate more than 1 inch into the tree and the range is limited. But they can get you killed. Two year ago before I was on the shooting range with my platoon one soldier got shot accidently by his comrades. It waaas said he survived his leg shot. At least we didn't get into that trouble.

Anyone know at which distance they were shooting??

The blue ammo is just for training and has no projectile!It is not simulation ammo!

@Zentrum Jagdkampf:

Are you really sure?????????????

Is this austrian ammunition or german?? I would think about austrian because it's too complicated to transport ammo from Germany to Austria.

Have you got a link to be sure???
So it's just training ammo with some sound and no projectile??

As I wrote the german ammo is blue with a red dot at the foreend.But it has a projectile.

You just think or you're sure?? (although I already think that there is no projectile from your answer)

Thx

Without AUG rifle, they look like WW2 German soldiers...same cap!

In norway the blue ammo have a projectile, but it is only efficient for about 100m i guess (not sure about that)

@sorbas2000

many of th ww2 gebirgsjägerdivisionen was founded by the old austrian army in 1938. for example the 2 nd, 3 rd (narvik) and 9 th gebirgsjägerdivision.
the edelweiss emblem is an ancient tradition of gebirgsjäger to our time.
but its not the same cap....it`s a little bit more modern :)

I know your blue ammo. The Plastic Training rounds. I saw them often in the woods around Bergen-Hohne (Nato shooting range, in Germany) where we practiced alot during my service in the Dutch army. But... I think that that are blanks. Austrian blanks are made of blue plastic. I'm a ammunition collector, and I've a few of these rounds.
Nice pics, thought!
