Yeah it always surprised me when I read about this particular use of the AC-130s. After seeing the video that's been available for a long time from another round, I had a hard time believing that they were unable to eliminate all of the Taliban hiding in a few different buildings. My only guess is that they shot at people moving and didn't just go to level the whole place. I remember watching a documentary about the aftermath the next day, and a large number of these guys were in ankle or knee deep freezing water in the basement of one of the larger buildings. They suffered more damage from grenades and small arms fire than from the 130s. Crazy stuff.
