I found out from this thread http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?p=2219931#post2219931
that Hussein Mohammed Aideed, son of the warlord Mohamed Farah Aideed who was the target of the whole Black Hawk Down Incident is a Naturalized U.S. Citizen, was in the United States Marine Corps. for 9 years, deployed to his former country in 1993, and is now a member in the interim government of Somalia. Strange Tale to say the least.

Heres a short article: http://hotzone.yahoo.com/b/hotzone/blogs1077

He's also a deserter from the USMC and should be held accountable for his actions.

Might it occur to anyone that he might be playing a leading role in helping further American interests in Somalia with regards to Al-Q.

I have not heard anything about him being a deserter, sounds like Bull**** to me. I think if he was the U.S. would not be cooperating with him in Somalia. Sure it occured to me, he probably is for the U.S. all the way.

He's good.

But he's in a catch-22.

The current Somali Transitional Government, could use his talents as ambassidor-at-large. One thing they'll need is international recognition and to patch it up with Puntland and Somaliland.

Here's an article about him.

A few years back they did an interview on this man and his operations in somalia. There was talk that he was supported and back by the CIA.

I think you're a bit naive on that topic. Even if he was a deserter, having a stable Somalia is more important to the US than catching a single USMC deserter.

might be my imagination but I watched a special history channel presentation on Black Hawk Down, and it said that after his father was killed/died or what ever happened that he went back to Somalia to take his fathers place. Im pretty sure thats what they said.
