ive always wondered about this since seeing WWII movies, but say I go to battle sites, could I (legally) do that (searching for items with metal detectors)?

I had found so far mortar and artillery rounds, plus mauser, mosin, parabellum , manliher ammo somme 2cm Flack ammo 12,7 tracer ammo, 2 old shootguns (totally rusted) one roman coin!!!(silver denar) , lot of cordite, TNT, etc... all without metal detector... :-)

Two of my freinds when I was a kid found a live 150mm Arty round and rolled it all the way home.

I have no idea how it ended up where it was but I do knowthey were lucky the ****ing thing didnt detonate.

When I lived at Ft.Hood as a kid I found a WWII-era 120mm mortar round in my front yard. Needless to say, it took the base ordinance disposal unit about two weeks to tear up my front yard to remove it and then fixing the yard back up.
