Not only does personal gun ownership equate low IQ, it equates cowardice and personal weakness.
I dont agree that owning a gun is a sign of low intelligence, but I do think that there is no point in owning a gun if you dont do hunting etc. Guns are simply instruments of violence. Nothing more, nothing less.

IMO you should have chosen someone else as the DOTW instead of this fella. (Not me ofc p-))

Indeed, but cars are not inherently designed to kill people/animals, unless tank you count in tanks. p-)

guns are designed to push metal at high velocity towards target, it is human who decides what this target will be

Well, maybe he should have nuanced it a bit. He/she knows there are a lot of gun packing rednecksp-) on this site. It's predictible that people take offence.

BTW, I wouldn't want a gun even if it were legal in my country. I have no use for it. No I don't need to defend my home, if I get robbed my insurance pays out and the police will go after the criminal. This ain't the wild west and the US isn't either anymore.

In the US you can shoot someone legally if he/she is on your property.(in some states) :cantbeli:
In the US you can get up to 40 years in jail because when you are a teacher educating kids on the PC, **** pop-ups appear. :cantbeli:
In the US a women dies of drinking to much water when contesting in a game called 'Hold Your Wee for a Wii'. :cantbeli:

(I don't know what point I'm trying to make, maybe this post will make me the next DOTW, maybe you can look past the insults of this weeks DOTW and question. Why do I want a weapon?)

LRPV
01-14-2007, 09:12 AM
Simple....Firearms are great fun for recreational use. Furthermore....where it is legal, firearms make a great defensive tool. Not everyone is willing to submit to random fate and accept crime against their families or themselves. Firearm ownership for home defence is just like the fire extinguishers I have in this house...they are an answer to a possible threat. Hopefully never to be needed.

Why is it the majority of anti-gunites try to compare gun owning States to the Wild West?????

Fear mongering, a way to justify their arguement, well if that is the case, show me where the increasde in firearm ownership has led to these Wild West scenerios????

It is my riight as a law abiding citizen to own firearms, and I want them to make sure I can with the tools at hand protect my family.
The Police are not mandated to protect everyone 24/7, and that individual responsibilty falls back ont he individual.

There is a big difference between wants and needs........

In the wild west you needed a gun, as you said the US is not the Wild west anymore.

I know it's your right to bear arms, because it's legal in your country.
But, do you really need that protection? (you obviously want it)
