Was wondering if anyone else from the UK saw this on Tuesday night on the BBC? It was basically a short documentary following some of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Iraq, following them during patrols, training Iraqi personnel etc.
While the documentary wasn't bad, I think a couple of the seemingly, slightly less "intellectual" soldiers had some slightly wierd things to say.
For instance, one soldier saying he liked to bring kids around him while on patrol so that his chance of being shot was reduced. I thought that was a slightly strange thing to do.
There was also an instance in which they were trying to pull out an Iraqi CDC vehicle that had crashed into a swamp, and a crowd of Iraqi's was gathering. A small crowd of children moved to the edge of the road near to the recovery effort and one Soldier kept running at them to scare them off.
Soldier - "They are pure ignorant ****s"
Reporter - "It looks as if your being quite aggresive, but your actually acting this way to ensure their and your safety?"
Soldier - (brief pause)... "aye"
Of course, these were just two soldiers out of all that were seen and interviewed, but they did stick out.
