View Full Version : Brit hk51 in Afghanistan - NOT
I don't know if this is repost as i've had this pic for a while but the bloke in the foreground is holding a HK51, it was labelled as a HK53 on another site but if you zoomm in on the gun you can clearly see that it has got a straight G3 mag in it and there is a strange gap between the trigger group and the magwell which I havent seen on any of the other HK51 clones, so maybee this was one of the original weapons from the MOD trial contract. the gun in the backround is a HK53 as you can tell by the curved mag.

Unusual. While the magazine appears to be straight, the rest of the weapon looks like any other HK53, trigger group is like any other UK HK53 and forearm extending back to the magazine well. Not to mention the optics, it looks like an ACOG.
*IF* this is an "HK51" (original MoD trials version was the FR Ordnance MC51, and IIRC they were produced in *miniscule* quantities over 20 years ago), it could've been retrofitted with spares from HK53 stocks already in service.
Don't discount the angle and light playing tricks though, it could just be an HK53.

Nice picture.
Yes, it was posted before (http://militaryphotos.net/forums/showpost.php?p=2005425&postcount=10)
The call was that the rear definately is a 53,
the front has a double mag clamp with semblances of a heavy box magazine.

btw, these guys will be in the spotlight regardless of black boxes - good thought though!

There have been umpteen threads on this topic over the years, this may be a new picture, but I really don't think we need another thread.
