Which class?
Kobben and Kilo class.
Hmmm, nice.
How about their combat value? Are their quite "modern" or it's just crap(Kobbens were taken from Norway? almost for free so thats strange).

The small ones are type 207 Kobben (ORP Sokół, ORP Sęp, ORP Bielik, ORP Kondor), the bigger one is a project 877E - Kilo (ORP Orzeł).

You thought well - there is only one Kilo - ORP "Orzeł". And I don`t know how long those ships are going to be in service...I haven`t heard about any plans of buying new submarines. Kobbens were commissioned not so long time ago so they probably be in service for some years.

They were given to Poland by Norway after modernisation.
The formerly Norwegian Kobbens were really modernized, but they are 40 years old now (1964-67) – very long period for so little submarines. Though their electronics is up-to-date, the level of noise can’t meet the modern requirements.
“Orzeł” of praised Soviet Project 877 (1986) has low level of noise (approximately the same as the German Type 209 of 1980s and better than the French Agosta), but its electronics is obsolete (this is well-seen from the above pictures) and it is too big for the Baltic Sea.
Thus, the Polish submarine fleet is bizarre enough.
P.S. The article in Russian about the history of the first “Orzeł” in 1939-40 (which was built in the Netherlands) - http://submarine.id.ru/history/b27.shtml (http://submarine.id.ru/history/b27.shtml).

That sub is so fvcking good, that she is often being lent for NATO exercises to play a role of an aggressor and she earns a lot of money for our fleet this way. NATO anti-sub forces (ships, helicopters and planes) have always big problems to detect her.

well, NATO didnt call the KIlos the "black holes" for nothing....:)

ORP "Orzeł" had some electronic modernization few years ago, and Kobens have replaced old Foxtrots. You should also remember that Baltic is a very noisy sea – so Kobens are good enough.

I learned some good news here. I thought Poland only had two submarines. Judging by the pics...we have at least double that.

Poland has 5 subs: 1 Kilo-class,4 Kobben-class.

I´ve alwaysd wondered why Poland (or some other country) was´nt/is´nt interested in the old swedish Näcken-class submarines. They are pretty modern (launched in 1980-81) and has offcourse been modernized.
One of the three ships was actually the first operational conv.submarine in the the world with AIP. HMS Näcken got Stirling engines in 1988.
As late as 2001 HMS Näcken was modernized even more because she was sold to Denmark as HMS Kronborg. But just a few years later Denmark decided to scrap their entire submarine force and returned her to Sweden in 2005.
Now their just laying at the port in Karlskrona and gathering rust...
I think it would be a great idea to modernize one of the other two subs to HMS Näcken standard and use the remaining sub as spare parts. For allmost no money at all you get two modern AIP-subs, sounds like a good deal to me. :)
Perhaps Sweden can offer them for free to Croatia together with a couple of Göteborg-class corvettes if they decide to go for JAS 39 Gripen ;)

HMS Näcken has now become HMS Kronborg and is handed over to Denmark. August 17 2001.

HMS Näcken is leaving a submarine dock in the underground navalbase Muskö. From the 1980´s.

Very nice photo of Polish Navy Base in Gdynia. ORP "Orzeł" in the center, two Foxtrots and one Kobben.
I saw Orzel when I was in Jurata (small polish sea spa) I saw her at sea and when I was watching her she submerged. That was cool! Just few second and the sea was empty!
In english ships are SHE? Yes?

I have been in some exercises looking for polish subs in ~96. This was just outside Gdynia.
As soon as the subs submerged the NATO ships stopped reporting in the positions however the two swedish vessles (HMS Gävle and HMS Sundsvall) continues to track both the Foxtrot and the Kilo sub. Foxtrot was much easier though. The Kilo can be hard to pick up again once we were told to turn our systems off to reaqquire the subs. Goes to show that different navies have different goals of their antisub units. Swedish navy is focused on brown/white water operations while most NATO subhunting is done in bluewater.
Ofcouse this was not a subhunting exercise as that was not allowed politically. We were practicing and rescuing subs in distress...

Great info! Thanks for that :) what kind of exercises was that? Baltops? Why tracking subs wasn`t allowed?

He said Subhunting, not tracking ;). And I agree that was a great info indeed. Must have been BALTOPS excercises.

Polish navy is currently being modernized to Nato Standards; some parts of the fleet are done others need work. The thing to understand is that the entire MIlitary is undergoing a process of modernization, we have made progress but it will take at least 5 more years.
Were building a new class of Corvettes that will add to the fleet, I don't see us getting rid of our vessles for at least another 20 years. What we have right now is good, we just need to modernize what we have and start building.
The subs Kilo/Kobben will be in service for a while, we will eventually build our own Submarine we have the technical and Industrail know how the only thing we lack is the funds.
Actually, look at it this way; our Airforce is in a worse off shape then our Navy and Army. It will take us longer to buy Aircraft then it will to modernize the Army and Navy.
