ahhhh, i see. I'm not the best at chemistry (thankfully I just have one more semester of organic chem left woot ), but you can do plenty in scientific fields without chem (or any other science you wouldn't like (physics comes to mind)).

Boring...education wise. But thanks to the latest reforms a few years back they got some brilliant plans of letting the students work independantly. Which rocks, because you can spend all your time in class on more usefull things like catchin up sleep and chatting. The classes are also arranged in a different way... for example, I did VWO (the highest high school) and at least untill the 4th out of 6 years you have almost only compulsory classes (which for example contains Dutch, German, French & English, with Latin optional) and then some history, geography, physics, chemistry, economy and other crap. In the 4th year you choose 1 of the four 'flows', which basically break down in a languages/culture (more artsy) flow, a economy/culture (but more like geography / history) flow, a and 2 beta flows, of which one is the diehard mathematics/physics/chemics flow and the other more the biology flow with the rest as background.
Together with 1 of the four flows you also get all the compulsory crap, like English / Dutch, still some German and French, and other crap.

I'm in my sophomore year, and I'm basically stuck taking math courses because virtually every elective offered at my school blows. I took a general math course (Integrated III) and Advanced Algebra w/ Trig as well...block scheduling is great until you realize that you often have to take 2 math classes a year. Probably the best class I've had was AP Human Geography simply because the teacher's a badass even though the curriculum blows.

Your school systems are equally odd. Come to Britain, it varies depending on aptitude, but I had 10 (a bit of everything, Maths, English, Science, History and Drama for my optional ones, I've forgotten the others) GCSE's at 16, then if you want to carry on the academic side of things you have 4 AS-Levels at 17(English Lit, History, Maths and Physics), then 3 A-Levels at 18 (I dropped English Lit), then off to uni, when I have exams every January and May/June for the next three years (International Politics). :lol: Its not as much work as it sounds, or I didn't think so anyway.

Its actually good fun. Secondary school(<16) was ****, I made good friends, and there were some really good teachers but you're surrounded by so many wankers at most schools. Some schools you can stay and do A-Levels, but I went to a specialist Sixth-Form College to do them, which was just great, the teachers were specialists, and you had more independance than at school, so it is sort of a stepping stone to uni, which is where I'm at now, first year undergraduate.
