Found this French Govt.info/propaganda film of French forces in italy during WW-2 on the archieve page of the French press buereau INA called "Croix de Lorraine en Italie".
In case it doesn't show for some of you the vid. format is Quicktime/mp4 streaming.

Wow! That's really awesome! One never sees films for and OF the Free French during WW 2 in the US, one reason why no one here even knows of their sacrifices. I think I understood most of what was said by the narrator. Some good and rare footage for sure. The Italian campaign was one of the toughest of the war for sure. I'd love to see more footage of the Free French in action during WW@.

The French forces taking part in the Italian campaign (under gen. Monsabert I think?) were in fact instrumental in turning the German positions at Monte Cassino, by gradualy working its way past and behind the eastern flank of the Germans there.
On the downside there were some cases of rape/attrocities against local civilians related to the goums serving as part of the French forces in Italy.
If one use the search function the page I linked above there's also tons of other footage of French military forces. From WW-2, Indochina, Algeria, Kolwezi etc., as well as some footage of portugese forces during the post WW-2 colonial wars in Africa.
