Taken by my father in 1983. Abandoned, damaged and destroyed Argentine Pucaras:

I actually think the Pucara is a pretty cool looking plane. Its just something about the way it looks like a jet fighter yet it has props, a combination that just looks cool in the Pucara's case.

May I ask in which function your father was in the Falklands?

Royal Army Ordnance Corps (All I can post at this moment in time. I'm sure you understand.)

The pictures are from '84, not '83.

Would you happen to know, if any of these photos were taken on Pebble Island?

I'll have the answer in approx. one hour. :)

I'll get some more photos up tomorrow (Need permission!). Hercs, Wessexs and squaddies mucking around ;) .

These were posted a while back, but I'm sure they are unseen by a few. From the Gulf: http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/dadgw

Just in! None of them were. But, the top photo was taken near Goose Green, the rest are Stanley.

Weren't they destroyed during the Falklands War by the SAS or SBS to stop them from attacking British forces?

Cool plane indeed.

Somewhat over-engineered to be cost effective.

It would have been a better export product if it had PT-6 engines.

The Brits were impressed with the handling characteristics of the caputured aircraft. Of all the foriegn operators, only Uruguay is operating them. Probably due to the close proximity of spare parts and training.

Thanks for your swift reply SpareMolliG.

Yeah, you're right. The Hooligans from Hereford wrecked about a dozen FAA and AA aircraft during that raid, suffering one minor wound in the process, when a remote controlled land mine was detonated by the defending Garrison.
