I vaguely remember this action. I was overseas on a US Ship so the news did not get to me. Weren't these guys part of ERP?

Damn dude, that was intense.

Not very smart to attack a military complex though. However, didn't seem like the military planned a very organized attack. They seemed a little disoriented.

They were not organized because the majority of the army was in vacations. In the unit have a few people. The first ones in coming to the regiment were those of the police. But they did not do very much with 9mm pistols. The army I mistake for using many heavy artillery. When they entered the commands, the terrorists were hidden in the ruins produced by the artillery and they were shooting on them. By night figth the commands and died two of them.

The big gun is an AA cannon. Argentina had some single barrel 20mm Oerlikon cannons and some double barrel 20mm Rheinmetall AA guns. Not too clear which one it is but I think it looks like the single barrel one.

Great videos. I remember that combat. It was trasmited live on TV.
The guerrilla group was the MTP (Movimiento todos por la Patria) and they leader was Enrique Gorriarán Merlo, one of the most active insurgents of the argentinian 60-70 decades. In that years he founded the ERP (Ejército Revolucionario del Pueblo) and in the 80s he went to Salvador and fight with sandinist army. He leads too the command that murdered Anastacio Somoza in Paraguay in 1980.
Merlo dies recently, few months ago.
For me Gorriarán Merlo was a ****in criminal that kill a lot of people; but there are many argentinians that considerer him a hero.
I post a few pics, some are GRAPHICS!!

Thanks for the photos.

Talk about bad timing.

Most Montoneros that I knew ironically given up thier resistance once the military invaded the Islands. It was the one common vision both sides had about Argentina. This resignation was solidified once democracy returned to Argentina. Most were leaving the past behind and returned to visit families.

Some stayed in thir host countries especially in Nicaragua. Former militants opened Argentine restaurants in Managua along side Basques Restaurant owned by former ETA members.

So all the baddies were all stuck in that one building, or were they in several different ones at the same time?
