Drunk NATO soldiers sleep on the streets in Lithuania
04/20/2004 17:07

National Lithuanian daily Lietuvos Rytas raised the issue of the conduct of the NATO troops recently deployed in the country.

The newspaper wrote the story headlined "NATO soldiers are headache for the police". According to the paper, the incident when several NATO soldiers were beaten on the day of their arrival, was just a beginning.

About 100 NATO troops (pilots and technical personnel) were deployed in town Zoknyai. They reside in the hotels of the nearby Shaulyai and seem to have a good time. Low prices for alcohol and *** services put some soldiers into excitement. General Commissar of Lithuanian police Vitautas Griaravichyus made a sensationalist statement. He said that attacks on the NATO soldiers, beating and robbing them are the results of "alcohol overdose".

"We can see the problem as, maybe, certain relaxation after arriving in another country. Alcohol overdose results in what we see. There may be even worse consequences".

On April 14 Shaulyai residents found drunken NATO soldier from Belgium. In the morning he said at the local police station that he had been beaten and robbed. According to the police, two weeks earlier the two beaten NATO soldiers were also drunk. After that incident, local police changed the routes for patrolling: policemen watch the places attended by NATO soldiers in their spare time. However, on April 14 the Belgian was beaten near the cafČ where the soldiers do not go.

Shaulyai police asked the authorities for additional funds to providing security of the NATO troops. Local police intends to purchase 4 more patrol vehicles and put 15 more policemen in patrolling.

They're drunk, where do you expect them to sleep? You've obviously never been to Daytona Beach during Spring Break.

Im not proud about it: But yeah. As a soldier, I have also used the street to sleep, because I was "misjudging" my intake. Streets can actally be very comfortable beds when in need. :D

Very funny. However I would not be laughing if I was a Lithuanian who wasn't a total sheep by believing that NATO was trying to do any good in my country.

Yeah, sh*t street, Honolulu, under the bushes by Fort De Russy (sp?), Hong Kong, Kowloon, Subic City (mud, no pavement), Cebu, Port Morsby, Kings Cross, Pusan (rail tunnels), TJ, Jahrez (sp?), hell, all over the damn place. Not proud, not doing it any more, just sad fact. Doing it sober is good training.

Uh, you obviously haven't read any posts made by Albanian, obd, Sixgun and a number of others.
I have nothing against NATO but I cant resist a good slagging of abbreviations when I see one.

Oh and btw, I find it very difficult to take any criticism seriously from a guy with a leaf of the "crazy-cabbage" as avatar... ;)

I'll continue your statement { but still ......still we we are paying $2.50 a gallon }

I gather from your punch in the face that you think the US is all about grabbing oil from other countries . I ask you this then . If we were so inclined to just point a finger and say lets take oil from this country then why not Saudi arabia . I mean after all all 19 high jackers were saudis right ? They have a hell of a lot more oil then Iraq . And furhter more we haven't recived any huge amount of oil from iraq , so whats your point ?

Just got to love the De Russy beach park. but to darn many cops and MP in that area. You will sleep much better in Ala moana beach park, if you don’t get robed by all the crack heads.

 because Saudi Arabia agreed peacefully with Bush to increase the oil output just before november -> Why attack someone who assits your reelection campaign?

Port Moresby: Don't remember too much (I was drunk, remember?) but I remember I only had about 24 hours in town; linked up with a group of them little black brain eaters with some home made hooch. I was UA but managed to skate.

Fort Derrusy: I never slept on the beach because of the locals. I used to sleep in the bushes right up against the building itself or on the roof of a first floor that stuck out (gravel, but safe).

I remember once we set a decoy out on the beach while a bunch of us got up in the trees. When the inevitable locals showed up to mug him . . ., well, let's just say the statute of limitations probably hasn't run on that one.

Yeah, the House of Saud is our bitch. George senior and the king are tight. Ever heard of Aramco? Why take what you already own?

Now, if they were to try and dump the petrodollar for a petroeuro, or if Osama's ilk were to coup the House, then we might invade. Gee, now why are we in Iraq? :cantbeli:

Nah, had your objective been solely to grab oil you would have used more efficient strategies for that.
And Saudi? More oil than Iraq? Once upon a time yes, but not anymore.

You ask for my point, problem is that there is no point. If you have read any of my posts on this forum you will know that I have nothing against the USA, even though i differ in my opinions of which is the better way to do stuff.

I also joke alot, and if you dont have the self-distance to laugh at a pretty harmless juggling of words regarding the more or less universal depiction of the USA as "the evil oil-stealing empire" (in the same spirit of humour that Haiw wears wooden shoes, PermskiiOMON drinks insane amounts of vodka, all based on international "prejudices") then I must say, I pity you.
If Bob Saget is the only humour you can fathom, by all means, ignore any post by me that includes any form of smiley-face.

They guard Baltic states air space because Estonia, Lithuania and Latvian air forces are same thing like Austrian navy!
