Introducing? Are you saying that this weapon is going into production? The last I knew this pistol was custom made for an individual.

Why wouldn't they? They were the medieval D3lt4.

Always found it odd that Masons like the Knights Templar, when the Masons hate Catholics, and the Knights Templar were a Catholic order...I'm sure there is some dogma about which explains this apparent contradiction.

We need a modern day Knights Templar composed of armed forces to stand up to the forces of darkness that now oppose us.

Well, that's what I do. I am American though, so I might have divided loyalties...

I'm sure Knighthawk has great pistols... I'd like them a lot more if they didn't plaster their name and logo all over the slide though.

My only criticism is that the wood grips are done digitally and not hand carved. I would much rather prefer the quality and craft of something done by hand (even if it costs) than something thrown through a cad style engraver.

I agree, CAD type engraving like that always looks clunky. I skrimshawed a pair of ivory grips for a friends 1911 once. Masonic symbol. It came out nice. Elegant, like engraving.

The pope destroyed the Knights Templar order overnight, confiscated it's assets, tortured and burned it's members as heretics. Maybe they have a beef about that.

According to legend the Templars who fled to northern England and Scotland were instrumental in founding speculative Freemasonry (as opposed to operative stonemasons). Volumes have been written about the links or lack of links of the modern masonic Knights Templar (a part of the York Rite) and the ancient Knights Templar.

The gun looks ok, Id personally rather have the Templar seal engraved or carved into the grip or engraved on the gun.

I'm not really into this whole customization of guns for looks, but this is a nice theme. Need to be developed further though.

It is indeed a fantastic looking piece, and if it is like the other NightHawk pistols I've finger fvcked, the quality is on par with the looks. However, I'd like to know who the hell 'usa patriot' is, because I have a feeling that he is pimping somebody elses ****!

It was King Phillip the Fair of France that started the persecution of the Templars on Friday Oct 13, 1307 (which is where the Friday the 13th superstition comes from), and seized their assets in France and tortured and burned them as heretics. Although the Pope did seize the remaing assets of the Templars in Europe most were pensioned off, not burned as heretics.

Its a nice pistol.

My friend has a laser engraver, you cant see the "marks" at all, although its not done by hand - its very good looking!! Look at the knife I did on his machine with my Wife's company name.

Engraving is different from carving.

Metal vs. Wood...

The Templar on the grip has no real character to it. The line weight and depth of the marks lacks the "human element" and tools.

It looks cheap.

Your picture looks like laser etched steel, which is, what it is.

CAD engraving on metal or computer carved wood always look the same, they are perfect for some things but there is no variation or style to the linework

I have a book called Steel Canvas by R.L. Wilson that has real hand engraving on metal and hand carving on gunstocks that will blow your mind.

When I said scrimshaw before it was in this kind of stippling style. I draw like this anyway, this guy is amazing...I'm thinking of doing a few of these...

That's all we'd need to bring the troops home: A Knights Templar adorned pistol found in the hands of a GI would reinforce the whole "Crusade" thing....

I did think that historically there was a rift between the two. I thought one of the Popes excommunicated a bunch of Freemasons once upon a time and that the Knights of Columbus was a Catholic version. Not that I researched it or know what the hell I'm talking about.....

Close. Freemasons were basically a product of the enlightenment and were originally basically a secret society of the well educated. At the time, Europe was suffering from the aftermaths of various wars of religion, and Europe was having more to do with the East. As religion was viewed as more devisive than inclusive, they tried to avoid its discussion or be involved in sectarianism. This brought them into conflict with the religious authorities as an organisation that was "anti" religion because it was not "pro" any one belief system. There were also more radical elements who wanted the seperation of state and church, ( a hot topic for some unfortunates in Europe ) political reform etc with the result that they were decidedly unpopular with the establishment. The KoSC were formed to try and ensure that RCs didnt join the Freemasons by providing an alternative RC organsation.

Not the Pope (who got bullied into letting it happen), but the King of France, flamed out the Templars.

Why do you think it's still one of the most popular guns in the world? It's clearly a very successfull design.
I have a rifle thats made in 1897 with a scope from the 50's. Now that might belong in a museum, but it's still as accurate and trustworthy as any brand new rifle.
You get my point.
