I wonder if this is a Sako TRG-42? Sure looks like one to me...
Am I completely wrong with this one?

LoL, SAKO sniper rifles are actually mainstay in many foreing armys, especially in special units..... counter terrorist units and even US Secret Service (VAIME weapons.....) lets no forget:
Lapua first designed .338 Lapua Magnum for SOCOM... ;)

Ok, in the fifth pic down not counting the flag, what's the round black thing around the guys neck?

It's simply a sling ;)

With some field modifications... that black plastic "foam tube" added around it... As the Minimi is quite heavy, and this guy here just has one "standard rifle sling" to it.....
(When i was in army, we had on our VALMET KVKK:s two standard rifle slings attached to it, side by side... so that there would be "less weight per sling" cause the thing is quite heavy and would have caused some "pain" if with only one (narrow) sling... the weapon is slightly heavier than Minimi.... around 10kg)

I have been under the impression that a few armies (besides the FDF) do actually use Sako's rifles, but I haven't so far seen any pics/articles about that. You would happen to know who else uses them?
Vaime weapons? What are those? Or did you just typo Valmet? If so, who, and what kind of Valmet's do they use?
And I didn't know that about the .338, thx for sharing that bit of info.
Cheers, m8!

Vaime weapons used at least, to be SAKO rifles with build in supressors. "De Lisle" i think is today manufacturing those same weapons.....
(UK based firm..)
Poland, Yugoslavia, Italy and others..... (there are many more..) but they dont like to talk about to whom their selling the weapons. :|
Sako sniper rifles are known by their world-class accuracy and strenght, and are used by many European police and counter-terror forces.

And now that Beretta owns "it" im sure these will turn up in even more numeorous locations. ;)

Nice photos. A dumb question. What are they acquiring targets for? Artillery, AC, themselves? Are they reccon?
