Im not really sure what hes got attached to his helmet strap (looks like a radio??)... I dont even know wether hes a real operator or what, so i just thought Id ask you guys.

It's the handset from a PRC-119E ASIP SINCGARS radio. The radio funtions can be accesed on the handset itself.

That is one expensive handset--IIRC they are something like $600 apiece in FEDLOG.
