>>> Since March 2003, a newly-enforced military regulation has forbidden taking or distributing images of caskets or body tubes containing the remains of soldiers who died overseas. [read more]

Immediately after hearing about this, I filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the following:

All photographs showing caskets (or other devices) containing the remains of US military personnel at Dover AFB. This would include, but not be limited to, caskets arriving, caskets departing, and any funerary rites/rituals being performed. The timeframe for these photos is from 01 February 2003 to the present.

I specified Dover because they process the remains of most, if not all, US military personnel killed overseas. Not surpisingly, my request was completely rejected. Not taking 'no' for an answer, I appealed on several grounds, and—to my amazement—the ruling was reversed. The Air Force then sent me a CD containing 361 photographs of flag-draped coffins and the services welcoming the deceased soldiers.

Score one for freedom of information and the public's right to know.

Why are you mocking the deaths of allied soldiers again?

Wow, there's some logic for you. "Because nobody else does." Have you thought that maybe there is a reason to not mock the deaths of soldiers and Marines?

I have the utmost respect for those who serve this country, and I will soon be joining them. These images are sobering reminders of the price that some have paid for their service. They don't deserve to be mocked. They deserve to be remembered for their service.

Thanks for showing the lack of respect you have for those people.

...and like all pigs he is revolting. Being an attention whore, whenever the forum marginalizes Helex because his biases are well-known, he stoops to new depths of depravity by posting garbage like this.

I would suggest everyone ignore this hideous attempt to instigate a flame war. Let him roll in his own sh**.

These aren't pictures to be used as some stinking political tool, these are pictures of people that are one hundred times the person you'll ever be, helex. Because they got off their arse and did something they believed in, and paid the ultimate sacrifice for their friends and their country.

So showing respect means to hide those who gave all they had for their country?

They are threaten like dirty secrets instead of honored.

Helex, you are a real piece of ****, you say when asked "why are you mocking us soldiers again", your response was b"because no one else does". The reality is that I, and Im sure many other on here, would love to see you in one of those coffin's. Saying things like you did and do every time you post will make people hate you. You are always making antagonistic comments twords people and flaming. I came to this site only about 6 months or so ago and it was sompletely different then. People (I use that term loosely) like you are ruining this board, you should take the hint that no one wants u here and leave.

HELEX you are not an American and have no idea how we are treating (not treaten) our dead. The news reports daily on how many troops have died and how they died. These images are seen on television from time to time. And even if they weren't the public can understand what "five dead soldiers" means when reported and do not require these images to understand fully that we are loosing service members in the line of duty.

You misinterpret what I wrote. I don't think that those images should be kept hidden. They are not "dirty secrets".

For what? For their own honor, for the commitment they made under oat and most of all for those they are with.

I tell you this, it doesn't mean using their images for your personal ****ing gains. - You offer them no honor by using their death and images to make political points/statements, especially when they are no longer among us to defend their own views, regardless of what those may be.

The reason they are not to be photographed is so assholes like you can not use the images for their own perssonal agenda as the soldier themself are no longer able to defend any view point of their own. Who the hell elected you their spokes person.

You want to critique the US and Coalition, fine. Do it on your own merit and arguements, DON'T rely on using fallen soldiers to argue to do it for you. You have no idea what those men and women may have dies for - so don't try and speak for them.

Once again you show another glimpse of your true self.
