btw, ever wondered how it'll be like to ride in a tank (http://a19k20.tripod.com/tankride.htm)?

Interesting video. Op Ivy, I have been at that plant, well, if that plant is the Lima Plant (Lima, OH). We went there back in 1990...a bunch of MS 1s and 2s during my ROTC days.

What they did not show are the submerged plasma cutters that handle the thincker steel. Those were bad ass. All the Chobham inserts are done in a closed off area where only workers with classified clearence are allowed in. It was weird when walked around it, knowing what was going on inside...well some of us at least, but we could not watch it.

We also got to ride on the track and drive it around the obstacle course. There is nothign sweeter than looking out the site as the thing is spining in place and the target never is jitters out of the reticle.

Oh my, on my first helo ride, I was scared ****less the 30 seconds, since we flew with rain and pretty darn close to some mountains (perhaps thinking I was in an airplane) and you get a feeling you MIGHT slip out the door, but after a while, IT was lots of fun, specialy the ability to hover and the landings.

Tell me about it. :D

A funny thing...

The Q&A session following it was a joke. I was an uber military dork at the time, keeping up with all the unclassified data getting out to the public. I was asking question about the M60A4 and whether the Marines were going to get the M1 with the 105mm and all I got was, that's classified, except it was in an issue of Jane's Defense Weekly not three months earlier.

Typical, I know, ROTC was filled with a lot of that. We were supposed to be young and dumb and know little and learn only what they gave us. Frustrated the hell out of me. :)

Didnt he say that its closest thing to flying, without actually leaving the ground.... ;)

OK, try this... Worked for me.

Go back to original link. Right click and "Save Target As". It will download to your "My Documents" folder.

Close window when download completes

Open "My Documents" folder and find the Realplayer icon

Select the "Move this item" option and move it to CD burner and burn the file to CD. Add to your collection of neat things from the internet.

You're welcome :D

Thanks very much for the video link, I think I saw the exact same video footage on Discovery
Channel's "Extreme Machines - Tanks" show a couple years ago, and this video from the
link has almost the same narration content.
