Marines clear Taliban from key Afghan dam (VIDEO)

Royal Marines have cleared a Taliban base, consisting of 25 compounds, near the Kajaki hydro-electric dam, in an effort to help bring stability and power to Afghanistan.

Once fully operational the dam will bring electricity to 1.8 million people. But the area around Kajaki, northern Helmand Province, has been the site of regular insurgent mortar attacks over the past two months and civilians have been forced from their homes leaving the dam largely unserviceable.

Binger & He219, those would be M-109A3(?) self-propelled guns. Of the M-109 series, only the M-109A6 is known as the Pallidin.

Didn't the Iraqi Army get BMP-1's from Greece, who got them from Germany, who inhertied them from the DDR NVA?

MG 3/ MG 74 has two bipod positions: forward position for open range, longer distances (up to max. 600 m) and the middle position for max. 150m, narrow angles (e.g. in the woods,...). Your body comes up a bit higher as well, so many gunners use the middle pos for shooting in high grass, bushes,...
So actually it is common.

FULL STORY (http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceNews/MilitaryOperations/MarinesClearTalibanFromKeyAfghanDamvideo.htm)

VIDEO LINK (http://www.operations.mod.uk/video/20070205kajakidam.wmv) Edit: Video just shows the dam, no "action".

Good drills for room clearing/assaults.

If you have a stoppage inside face to face, then you stick it in a soft quishy bit rather than **** about trying to clear the stoppage.
