Looks like they don't even need SPRs as sniper rifles. M14, M16 with a big ass scope seems to make the difference. :)

Following an awards ceremony April 24, 2004, recognizing 12 Marines and one sailor who were wounded in action, a Marine wears the Purple Heart medal he received at Camp Fallujah, Iraq, from Brig. Gen. Richard S. Kramlich, commanding general of the 1st Force Service Support Group. Most received their wounds during the opening days of Operation Vigilant Resolve, launched April 4 to bring order to the city of Fallujah. All of the recipients are assigned to Combat Service Support Battalion 1, who provides logistical support to Marines operating in and around Fallujah. Despite the wounds, all have returned to duty. Before he awarded the medal, Kramlich spoke of the significance of wearing the Purple Heart saying that Americans "will be reassured that there's people - men and women like you all out there - that are ready to do whatever it takes." As of April 24, 57 Marines and sailors with the I Marine Expeditionary Force have been killed in action and another 483 have been wounded.

K4F-Fairnie, Three Color replaced 'Choc-chip' Six Color soon after GW1. Only the US Marines use the above digital pattern (MARPAT) and the Canadians also have a similar Arid Canadian Disruptive Pattern (CADPAT). It just works better than anything else out there.

And it also looks like they have specific AK-pouches on the combat belt as well,

Well in the pic these soldiers are marching in a parade, so it would be pointless to have their gun in a 'ready' position, unless they decide that they're going to open fire on the croud on onlookers.

The guy is wearing the old CAnadian ARmy body armor and the new Tac Vests. The problem with Canada is that there too slow when it comes to distrubuating new equipment. Only a few soldiers actually have the new Body Armor with CADPAT over it.

Another example would be that not all Canadian Forces have CADPAT which is silly. A lot of REserve units in CAnada still have the old combats.

You have got to be joking AFSOC. I have spent 15 years in the Canadian Forces. Did my share of time with both the Reserve and the Regs. Your comment is way out of line. Yes I will concede that there are some real winners in the reserves that have got it all wrong, however most are motivated, and hard working soldiers. You will always meet guys that think they are “all that”, but I have met just as many in the Regs. It also depends on which unit these guys came from. Some seem to be more professional then others. I don’t know the entire history, however, a large firefight the PPCLI was in involved in (Medac Pocket) during Peacekeeping in the Former Yugoslavia had a large contingent of Reservist attached to them and they performed will from all accounts.
Perhaps you should not judge all by the actions of the few you have met.

Memphiz, join the reserves, get some experance, then go if you want and join the Regs. That is my opinion anyway.

Former Arizona Cardinals safety Pat Tillman, photographed in Puyallup, Washington in this June 2003 file photograph was killed in Afghanistan.

I don't now about you guys, but i think we have a real candidate for the Medal Of Honor!!
Maybe not for what he has done in battle -we will never now- but for the awesome example he gave it to us!!!
Should I refer you to the 'Medals inflation'-topic?

"

here's some advice dude...

DONT JOIN THE RESERVES, the reserves in CAnada are a bunch of cocky ****s, they think there hardcore.....

Ive met a lot of them and there tall lanky guys with stupid looking glasses, and the talk smack about how they go over to europe and blow up **** like undiscpline soldiers. To me it doesnt seem like they take **** seriously...

just my opinion.....you wanna join the ARMY join the REGULARS. There the reAL deal in the CAnadian Forces.

Well to join the regulars I must be 18, right now im 16 and I can join the reserves at 17 this fall. I want to join the reserves to prepare me for when I decide to go regular, I would also like to someday become a cop or RCMP and I think that military training would help.

wootThanks for the info 41A, and welcome to the forum. Ive gotten alot of support from members here about joining the reserves, and I still plan to. It will be an experience of a life time, I want to proudly serve my country, and I feel this would be the best way.

Great stereotyping there AFSOC. Yes, there are those types of people in the Reserves, but that is why they are there because they were not meant to be in the Regs.

There are also others who have joined the Reserves in the meantime until they can go Regs.

I joined at the earliest possible age of 16. That was 2 years ago and once I finish my schooling, I will be going Reg Force... or even the British Army.

16 Really? Did you go into the cadets? because I thought the earliest to go in was at 17, with parental consent.

I was in Cadets for 3 years before, but that had nothing to do with it.

Earliest is 16 with parental consent. I would know ;)
