People travelling to Gallipoli, Turkey, this week to attend ANZAC Day 2004 services (commemorating the landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps on the Gallipoli Peninsula on April 25, 1915) are urged to maintain a "high level of personal security awareness," says Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs. "While no specific threat to persons attending ANZAC Day ceremonies is currently known," said the department's travel advisory, "Canadians are reminded that several terrorist attacks on Western interests have occurred in Istanbul in recent months and that there is a possibility of future large-scale terrorist incidents in Turkey."

The department advises Canadians to register and remain in contact with the Canadian embassy in Ankara or Foreign Affairs Canada (call collect, 613-996-8885).
