Excellent pictures of cadets training to defend the free nation of Taiwan from the looming shadow of Chinese oppression.
Since your picture hosting doesn't support hotlinking, just direct people to the main directory, here: http://photo.pchome.com.tw/photos1.html?nickname=sf1&s=s04&books_id=1&page=1
That is, if you don't mind people seeing your airsoft pictures and suave GQ poses, haha.
Actually, Alfred...since you're a military cadet, I'm curious as to your position on the Taiwanese independence/soveriegnty issue. Is there dissent among the cadet corps whether they would take up arms against their Chinese brethren?

You make me feel embarassed......
Taiwan now is undoubtedly a highly democratic country; therefore, there must be pletiful various kinds of viewpoints to the Taiwanese independence/soveriegnty issue.
Most important of all, the ideological difference between Taiwan(captialism and democratic regime) and China(totalitarian or authoritarian communist regime mixed with captialism-arranged communism)have caused many times of disputes/misunderstanding even crisis for decades....
I have no idea about when the war comes in case, what will others do....
the politician must run away first.....
all I know is that there will be some people like me who love Taiwan and stand for our homeland at any prices to protect Taiwan......
"Love Taiwan" is not just a slogan, we should put it into practice......

Hey don't succum to that Commie propaganda. Most Taiwanese do not view the Chinese as their "brethren" at all. Mean neighbors is more like it.
Hey Alfred I just want to say great pics and I'm very proud of what you are doing there. Hey, another T/A! Hello!
Well, from what I've seen, the Taiwanese people by and large recognize that the vast majority of them are ethnic Chinese. And they harbor no real animosity towards the common *people* of China, just the government. The fact of the matter is, the Taiwanese people would accept reunification with the mainland if China were a free, democratic society, and ceased its antagonism. Don't mistake a reluctance to relinquish hard-earned democracy to communist oppressors as an overall hatred of Chinese people.
That said, if worse comes to worst, I would be right there next to you defending the motherland.

The ideology of people in Taiwan has varied into three leading ways:
1.Be independent(relatively majority)
2.Be reunited(relatively minority)
3.Be neutral and keep the same situation(most Taiwanese included me support this viewpoint)
However, the DPP(Democratic Progressive Party) have won the 2004 presidential election, thoug there're lots of disputes to this "riddiculous"
campeign.......again and again the authority have been trying the "Red Line" of China authority's patience.....
There were two major crisises (1996 & 1999) which were caused the attitude of the Taiwan authority to the independence and soveriegnty issue.
There are three condition that China will attack Taiwan:
1.Taiwan announce being independent
2.There is/are foreign force/s intervening the Taiwan's interior administration or decision-making
3.Civil war or Taiwan's interior unstability
any way, hope the war will never come........

Ironically, many overseas Chinese agree/think that ROC (taiwan) are much more traditional Chinese then the RPC (mainland China). Especially after the devastating Chinese culture Revoluntion.
Btw, another ironic fact is that PRC was the break away states from ROC.
Backing to the independent issue, I belive:
The independent question should not be judged on, historical and ethical issues. That says:
Taiwan have the right to be an idenpendent state, even if they are 100% ethically no different from Mainland China and have always been part of China.
On the other hand, Taiwan and China can also be unify even if people on the taiwan island are 100% ethically DIFFERENT from Mainland China and it has NEVER been part of China.
The Choice should only be based on the willingness of the people on this Island.
However, it is very sad that some people try so hard to create an anti - mainland Chinese sentiment , just to reach they political agenda.
At the same time are too much misunderstand between the people across the strait.
and all this creats ugly war :(

Hey Kop, you make it sound like anti-Chinese sentiment is created purely by the Taiwanese for selfish reasons. Have you thought that maybe, just maybe, there is anti-Chinese sentiment because of how China behaves towards us?
Pointing 500 missiles at someone and constantly making hostile threats is not a way to win people's hearts. You seem to be looking just at the effect and ignoring the cause.

Personally I don't want to see China seperated forever and also hate to see a war against brethren(yes brethren).

yes, I do agree with you that the anit-Chinese sentiment are fundanmentally caused by the act of mainland chinese government towards taiwanese people i.e. missles.
and for me, the mother of a independent Taiwan are actually "the leaders of mainland Chinese" , they keep offering taiwanese people unacceptable offers with an arrogant tone.
But we have to notice the fact that any government in any country would not tell the people of their country of the full story, be it the PRC, Taiwan or any island government in pacific ocean. Althought , this bending of truth is less severe in a democratic society since they have relative free media.

Actually it stem from the arrogant behavior of PRC towards ROC. The more arrogant PRC are towards taiwanese, the more Taiwanese wants to drift further inorder to snub at the nose of CCCP.
In a certain way, I see Taiwan are actually more chinese than mainland. confucianism culture, Taoism are being well protected and respect. Not anymore the case in mainland china.
Taiwanese culture excert more influence on overseas chinese community(because it something we can identify with) than those boring communist rhetoric from mainland.

In the picture below, you can make out the OPFOR's red helmets in the top. I believe this was taken at another publicity event, so ignore any tactical unreality.

From what I have seen , I came accross two version of blue patch
one words written as political group 政戰連
another one the words written as machine gunner 機槍兵
and I just wonder how many different version of this blue patch the army has, and whether all solider are issued with these patches .
regarding to the blue arm band, i think the guess of using it to identify which are the blue force in any exercise is right.

Sad that you could not follow General Sun (孫立人)s path and go to Virginia for military education. :(

Guys like xjym2002 and SPIKEATGM gives me hope for the future. If only there are more cool Chinese like you guys.
When ever I talk about the Taiwan issue with Chinese it usually ends up with them saying something like "Taiwan is so tiny we will crush you". So I try to avoid talking about it if possible. But once in a while I go online to vent alittle ;) .
KOP you are right about the growing arrogance. I noticed back in the 80's every Chinese I've met was friendly and polite. Now with the new prosperity I noticed a growing arrogance and rude attitude.
I agree with everyone that war is not the answer. A war will ruin everyone involved. The best course is to maintain the status quo until conditions improve.
I've gottaa say. Except for the picture of the cute chick, who probably doesn't swallow, this is the gayest thread ever. Later biyatches.
Imagine the irony, Hugh Jorgan says that Alfed Wang is gay. This is fantastic. I have got to lay off the crack, this place is killing me tonight.

Yes, A lot of Mainland Chinese people are very cool blooded, there are only money in thier eyes. ( The explanation of this Phenomena is another topic)
Actually Mainland China are no longer a communist country at all, indeed it has transformed into an extreme and unbalanced capitalism country (with limited freedom of speech), and today working class and farmers are being maginalised in this economic reform, which creates tension within the society and unstability.
P.S. I do not live in mainland China ,so I can not be sure that my information are 100% accurate.

China babies die 'from fake milk'
Dozens of Chinese babies are said to have died from malnutrition in the past year after being fed fake or inferior-quality baby milk powders.
Prime Minister Wen Jiabao said makers of the products would be severely punished, the China Daily paper said.
State officials have been sent to the city of Fuyang, in Anhui province, to investigate further.
Correspondents say the case highlights the widespread problem of counterfeit foodstuffs and medicines in China.
According to official media reports, up to 200 babies who were fed formula milk of little nutritional value were affected.
Local media said some of the babies developed what doctors called "big head disease", where infants' heads appear abnormally large in comparison to their bodies.
It was not clear of the counterfeit powder included any toxic ingredients, but some children were reported to have died within three days of being fed the fake milk.
Others were hospitalised when their parents realised they were ill. Fuyang's People's Hospital alone received more than 60 babies who had been fed fake milk formula, according to the Beijing News.
"My girl, the first child of mine, died when she was only four months old," said Zhang Linwei, from Wangzhuang Village in Fuyang.
Mr Zhang told China Central Television that he only realised his daughter was ill when she refused to drink any more powder.
"Before that, I thought my daughter's face was becoming fatter and fatter because she was fed well and grew fast," Mr Zhang said.
An analysis of one formula found it contained as little as one-sixth the required amount of protein and other nutrients needed for a baby's proper development, reports said.
Zhang Fangjun, a medical expert at Fuyang's Renmin Hospital, told the China Daily: "Drinking such fake milk powder is no different from drinking water."
"Such so-called milk powder cannot provide any nutrition for babies' growth," Mr Zhang said.

How many out of ~1.5 billion make "a lot of"? I don't know. One of the fact is you can see "poisonous" this and "poisonous" that from time to time. It's the "poisonous" infant milk powder for the time being.

True. Sometimes I got scared by the image that another "real" communist party would rise with support of workers and farmers.
P.S. I do not live in mainland China ,so I can not be sure that my information are 100% accurate.
I hate to say ... but I believe what you said is accurate.

Alfred, perhaps you can show her your "Wang" ;)
I don't get it.
..............show her my "Wang"?
a "wang" is a slang term in english for "*****". ;)
other slang terms include: "****, johnson, schlong, wank, one-eyed monster, private, yodel, etc".
Wank? I don't think so. Wank is a verb, not a noun :)

I do know that wank in British English is a verb, and wanker is someone who wanks a lot. ;) But in American English, it seems like wank is a noun. I'm not sure about the American English version, but I hear it pretty often in reference to the noun.

China's secret weapons. IF they ever get into a war with the West, they're probably going to send those cuties to the front line and have them fight naked. So the soldier hesitates with his jaw dropped for a few seconds and then gets killed. :P
