A cat which jet-setted across the United States for nearly three weeks trapped in the hold of a passenger jet was flown home on Wednesday to its owners in Germany.
The feline, Billy, escaped from its box as owners Guenther and Ingrid Koelbl flew from Phoenix, Arizona to Philadelphia with their dog and two other cats.
Undetected in the hold, the black-and-white kitty missed the family's connecting flight to Munich, southern Germany, and was found only 18 days later by airline mechanics in Manchester, New Hampshire.
"The airline must be mouse-free by now," Ingrid Koelbl said as she and the family were reunited with Billy at Munich airport.
"It's an indescribable feeling, the whole family is so happy. It'll get an extra portion of whatever it wants to eat," Guenther Koelbl beamed.
Looking thinner and somewhat tired, Billy the cat was flown home via a US Airways flight from Philadelphia, this time in the passenger compartment in a box marked "Escape Artist".
