hey,
just bought this rucksack. it appears to be an sas para bergen copy (comparison photo) from the uk and I suspect it may be african military as its too good to be civilian.
Its the same design in woven nylon with ykk buckles and a sam zip. Their is an extra pockets on it as seen in the photo.
Any ideas its driving me mad!

Any ID markings or it could just be a copy , as you see these are pics of the DPM Bergen.

Hey,
The bergan has no markings on it at all. The quality of manufacture is excellent and uses materials that could be dated to the early eighties. Its frame is also not an issue one, its manufactured especailly for the pack which draws me to the conclusion that it is military rather than civilian. The expense of producing the frame from scratch for the civvy market would just be too great and it doesn't correspond to civilian frames of the period.
One of the more unusal features is the use of 40mm webbing for the shoulder straps, with an unmarked unusual 40mm buckle, and a sort of vinyl/leather on the front of the strap with soft nylon on the part towards the body. Again a feature which draws it from the civvy copy market
Hope this might provide more detail!

That's not an issue item.
