Danm.....just.....danm....these guys deserve something better. Its what I said in a thread a long time ago: they spend the money for the wrong things. Thats indeed shameful. These guys lost an arm or a leg, or even worst, thier sanity for the USA and then, they dont get treated well. It really reminds me on Vietnam.

Poor guys....

its allways been like this in all countries. When the goverment needs you to go and fight they sure come after you and offer you money and everything you need, but after the war or after you have been injured they don't really care about you anymore, because you are no longer usefull.

This is absolutely true.........at least with the Canadian Forces anyway. They use you to the max and basically chew you up and spit you out. I thought the CF was really bad for this kind of thing but it looks like the Yanks have the same problems. Total BS, maybe someone should tell potential recruits about this along with the fancy recruiting videos.

When it comes down to it, you are own your own with a handfull of buddies if you are lucky.

Lets start with this small premise: As radical right as you people lable Bill O'reilly, Keith Oberman is his polar opposite on the far left. Just want to put the initial story, the commentary and the guest into perspective.

The Vet Group representative was asked specifically if this was a problem at this clinic or across the country - you'll notice that he didn't respond. He started in on the BRAC commision - which, was started by the DEMOCRATS in the late 80's. The reporter stated that the DOD has been fixing many of the issues raised in the piece yet this seems to be forgotten by Mr. Oberman and his guest. You'll also need to notice that the interviewee starts down the politcs road with the "armor and Humvees" crap that we've already been over many a time.

This building was NOT part of Walter Reed. The report doesn't say Walter Reed sucked, only this particular clinic. The hospital is downtown D.C. - real-estate is at a premium. The space was obtained as close to the primary facility as possible and is still undergoing renovation.

The Vet Group rep needs to check his facts again as well - the clinic is funded and will continue to be repaired. Walter Reed isn't planned to be closed until 2011.

Are there problems in the system? Yes. If you look around I'm sure you can find a civilian clinic in such a state prior to a renovation. If there was no efforts whatsoever to fix the problem I could see the outrage. But the problems ARE being fixed. Just seemed to be another easy target for an attack piece that attempts to diminish the genuine efforts and work of the Military Medical community.

Lastly, I've been a patient in AF, Army and VA medical facilities and have found the care to be on par with the civilian world.
