It's ok. However it's depicting it from 'McNabs' view. I suggest, don't get the movie, get The One That Got Away and Soldier 5.

You should read "Eye of the Storm", it's written by the guy who was RSM of 22 SAS during the Gulf campaign and he corrects or rather gives his opinion on what went wrong there and what was exagerrated by McNab in his book. Good read, written by someone who doesn't need to put himself in the spotlight.

well, don't get your hopes up high, because most of everything you read turned out to be lies. There's another book called the "real" bravo two zero by Michael Asher, an ex-SAS soldier. He went to Iraq with your "favourite" book and wanted to trace the patrol step by step, and what he discovered is far beyond what is written by Andy Mcnab. None of the events described in the book actually happened, or they did but in a very different way. The "heores" said they have killed over 150 iraqis, where in reality they killed none.
Michael Asher also filmed his journey through Iraq, it usualy plays on the history channel, see if you can catch it sometime. Believe me, I fell in love with the book too, now I hate it, so I tossed my copy in the dumpster.
Those sas guys were trying to portray themselves as heroes, and one way to achieve that is to kill as many iraqis as possible, as if they were robots.

I saw the real bravo two zero documentary on the history channel, but it did say they killed a whole lotta people, although there were some major discrepancies (sp)?? between the book and the documentary.

I always question everything so , here goes

They were behind enemy lines , had to run and they dident kill anyone ?,
3 SAS guys died and they dident kill anyone ?

Andy and Stan let books out , the rest dident . So its unfair to say they milked the fame and hero status . The Kiwi of the group also has a book out that gives a diffrent story then the one Stan and Andy gave out . So you cant all just put them in the same group .

What book did Stan let out?

IIRC, the others didn't because there was legal action of some sort saying that they couldn't.

That can't be, because I saw that same documentary, twice, and I remember (near the end) Michael Asher saying that he hasn't uncovered one kill by the SAS, when they said they killed 150. There were firefights however, against the iraqi police or the iraqi army, but most of them ended up with the sas soldiers running off because they were outnumbered.
I wish there's a way we can get this documentary on the internet.

Michael Asher documentary pointed towards them not killing anyone, but not necesarily that they didn't. He said it was unlikely they did.

Regardless of the "conspiracies" involved in the Brave Two Zero incident it is still a great movie for a low budget effort. I really enjoyed it. It's available on DVD aswell, I think Amazon.com has it among other places...

I first dismissed Asher as "Complete Bollecks" as he wasn't even there. However when compared with Soldier 5 it makes more sense then the other two.

I don't think we should, entirely. At least only as much as any journalist. The differences in his PoV are;

+ He filmed his inquiries in Iraq to find 'the truth', including interviews with the Iraqis concerned.

+ He's not trying to be a hero

- He wasn't there at the time.

- He's still making money out of the incident as they did.

Make your own mind up I suppose.

Peter Ratcliffe was present at the after action reports and when they interviewed the surviving members of B-2-0. He also talked to McNab and his bunch before the operation, so I personally trust him the most. Like I said, read "Eye of the storm", in the last part he gives good comment on mcnabs and ryans stories.

If Andy and Chris lied , why should we trust Michael Asher ?.

Because Michael Asher would've gotten in serious **** if he lied about eveything he wrote and filmed, and his documentary wouldn't be playing on channels across the world.

Consider of Sean Bean, I always wonder whether "Ronin" is the sequel of "Brave Two Zero".

I have seen the movie and it makes a real story surreal. I have done lots of research on the SAS and still to this day can not believe one man can run that far with that much weight in that much time. It goes to show you if you put your mind to anything it can be possible. For a guy who was at one point Britians most decorated soldier Andy Mcnabb has made lots of money on his fame.

Simple, evidence; binoculars, parts of claymores, british ammo, trustworthy first hand accounts.

The best thing to do would be to read all books associated with the incident: Bravo Two Zero, Soldier Five, The One That Got Away, The Real Bravo Two Zero, and Eye of the Storm.

Read them and make your own evaluation of them.
