I don't know which unit he's from, but his helmet looks like some kind of para-helmet to me. Am I wrong here??

He's A Navy EOD tech. He was originally misidentified as a Marine. He was attached to the MEU to clear explosive hazards when they went into the oil fields.

Soldier of Fortune printed a correction after his boss wrote them a letter and properly identified him.

Marine EOD I was told when the pic first came out, cant remember where.

You should see the huge kick ass poster Surefire made using that pic with Henley's Invictus quoted on it.
