I have been running a Wilcox Aimpoint mount for some times now, all I have to say is if you are not looking for quick release mount(LaRue) then this might just be your ticket.

This mount is extruded aluminum construction with super light weight property. the construction is excellent with beautiful finish and the mount is solid and very robust.

Compare to the likes of a GG&G or Knights Armament products, this is a much lighter, just as storing with a better finish then the other tow mentioned. I am not sure of the price but for what it is, it should not be expensive.

the Thumb screw are very easily tighten by hand, but I used a large flat side steel to give it a nother half turn. this method has held up throught various shoots since Shotshow and the mount has not loosen.

For those of you not looking for a quick release(LaRue), then you should seriously look at the Wilcox as an alternative to those non-quick release offerings on the market.

Contact Victoria at Wilcox for direct sales. Wilcox is pretty quiet about their product due to their association with their closely held customer, but they will sale to all 50 States with the CONUS. they also have a dealer in Canada.

Looks like another great mount. I see you are using Samson quick flip 3X Mag mount. How do you like that mount?

I have a Samson cantilever Aimpoint mount and I like it so far. I'm thinking about purchasing the 3X Magnifier and go with either All samson mounts or sell the mount I have and go all LaRue :)

Thanks

Paul

Great pics and mini-review SMG as usual. Isn't that the usual mount for the Navy MK18 Mod 0 CQB-R for the Aimpoints? Nice.

I have to say, I am very surprised. I was really put off by the fact they copied PRI and made it a lighter construction. I would have thought the thing would not be that well made, but at the same time I don't see why CRANE would pick something crappy.

Also, I contacted Victoria early this month about a mount for my Mk18 replica and she said Wilcox does not accept any civilian orders. So has all that changed in the space of three weeks?

Minuteman,

I am not going to who made what, but as far as Wilcox, but you should really look into the development progress of this mount before you make a statement. they started to make this mount five to six years ago under the request of CRANE. you have not seen Wilcox too much on the web because they are one of those manufacture that work behind close door to supply the military, they don't really deal too much with the civilian sales. if you see the list of their customers, then you would realize that Wilcox is an innovator, not a follower.

PRI makes a similiar mount that is made of steel construction, it is just another favorite.

I am not sure about how they go about with the civilan sale, but i think you can call to get victoria to refer you to their distributors.

No worries, you have me sold on it. The amount information on this mount has been very limited, so I have only been able to go on what little is out there. It's difficult from someone in my position to make accurate assumptions on such little information. This is the only real review of the mount I have seen.

I was able to source one recently and I'm looking forward to seeing it in person myself.

I have used one of these for a couple years- It does its job as far as I've pushed it (not far). I don't think Wilcox sells to civilians even now..

Not to take any sides but the history of this mount traces back to The Man himself, Wes Grant of MSTN.. PRI produced this mount after he designed it. Wilcox then made their take on the design..

Not sure if Wes design the mount, but PRI came up with it, but CRANE need a cheaper but just as strong alternative and the Wilcox was developed at the request of CRANE with an extruded aluminum construction which might not be as strong as the PRI but it is considerably cheaper and string enough to serve the intented purpose. this mount has served with the Naval specwar group on various platform and made famous by many pictures you see of the MK18CQB-R on MP.net.
