Divers search for child missing after Arkansas flood
HUNTSVILLE, Arkansas (AP) -- Divers joined the search Sunday for a 2-year-old boy missing in a creek since a pickup driven by his mother was swept off a bridge by a flash flood.
The body of the boy's 3-year-old sister was found after the accident Saturday near Huntsville.
"Our rescue efforts have turned to recovery since it has been so long since the boy entered the water," said Sgt. Shannon Smith of the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Their mother and another child survived.
Rural roads were flooded in many Arkansas counties as a slowly moving storm system drenched the state.
More than 6 inches of rain fell in the Mountain Home area Thursday night and the storms continued Friday and Saturday, the National weather Service said.
Gov. Mike Huckabee planned to sign a disaster declaration, a spokesman said.
:( It did rain a good bit in a short amount of time, the Cumberland River was pretty high last time I looked.
