I belive its the very same Skoda, currently a Czech company, previously Austro-Hungarian, located where in 1918 Czechoslovak state was established. Its been producing weapons since 1859.And the gun is improved version of M1893 mg. The design was patented in 1888. Apart from basic principle of operation it has nothing to do with also Austro-Hungarian, also retarded blowback operated Schwarzlose mgs.

Yes and no... Skoda car manufacturer "Skoda Auto" was a part of "Skoda Works" company at that time but after WWII it was split. (That's why it has almost the same logo). "Skoda Works" also made well known light tanks LT-35 and LT-38 (later Pzkpfw 35(t) and Pzkpfw 38(t)). Today the company's name is "Skoda Holding" and produces trams, turbines, locomotives, etc.

the first not Austro-Hungarian, but Czech Škoda M1909. Škoda Plzeň was established by a Czech owner Emil Škoda in Czech town Plzeň in the Czech Kingdom in 1869, Czech kingdom was one of the three states - Czech Kingdom, Hungarian Kingdom and Austrian Archdukedom- what created Habsburg´s monarchy (since 1867 with name Austria - Hungaria because Czech politicians lost the political fight against German politicians in Wien parliament) Habsburg´s emperor had the political power in the Czech Kingdom or Hungarian Kingdom as the Czech King or Hungarian King, not as Austrian Emperor.
Try to say that Scotch whisky is "Great Britain whisky" or Glasgow Rangers is "Great Britain football club" :cantbeli:

Second not exactly. Škoda Mladá Boleslav - producer of the cars earlier trucks as well - is an independent and diferent company from Škoda Plzeň - producer of heavy turbines, locomotives, trams, heavy engineering, power stations equipment, ships, cannons, machineguns etc. right now.

Škoda Mladá Boleslav - cars and trucks producer - was established in 1906 as Laurint&Klement, in 1921 was bought by Škoda Plzeň and renamed as Škoda and became one part of the Škoda Plzeň gigantic trust. After WW2 all Czech factories were owned by the state due to communistic revolution, so nobody cared about the relations between companies. In 1992 (I guess) Škoda Plzeň have admited to use name Škoda for Škoda Mladá Boleslav company - car producer - for 99 years.

Rumcajs! Wont try to argue about Czech history, but "Austro-Hungarian M1909" is justified, I belive, by fact, that there was no separate Czech army under Franz-Josef rule, i.e. what matters here is what army adopted the weapon. As far as its production is concerned it sure diserves a name of Czech weapon.

Btw how are Hanka and Cypisek doing ;-)
