looks nice. All european police forces will have blue uniforms in the future... Germany is currently introducing new uniforms as well... Some states already have them.

In my link from official website of our police is: "final design has been chosen" :) First place in challenge has student Piotr Suchocki
Original text:
"Konkurs na koncepcję nowego umundurowania policyjnego został rozstrzygnięty. Pierwszą nagrodę jednomyślnie przyznano Piotrowi Suchockiemu, absolwentowi uczelni. Wyróżnienia dostali Maria Kuźma i Michał Szulc, studenci V roku Wydziału Tkaniny i Ubioru, co oznacza, że również ich pomysły zostaną wykorzystane w tworzeniu przyszłych mundurów."

This sentence makes a difference. It means that the final result can look according the wish of the Police

Old green and new blue Unforms from Hamburg (new blue markings on the car behind them. they were also green before). I guess they're the first to switch the colours in Germany.

Not exactly.... 5 northern lands have simmilar designs, only minor diferences like logo etc.... as for rest of germany.... who knows... some Lands prefer to keep old ones.

Those uniform are only concept designs... but press makes a lot of noise about it.
The wining design was picked on 20th february, however final version should be ready around june - july, I am afraid that we may not complete field tests until winter :-( There is still much work to be done, and much stuff to test.
P.S. Plan is to introduce new uniforms in 2008.

So why blue?
To Germany:
I prefer the green / beige ones. Blue just doesnt fit in my opinion, especially on the cars. You just dont realize that they are cops because all of your life they had been green/white(silver). I hope that here in B-W they will stay with the green.

I know what you mean. Some of the new uniform designs look like made for garbage-men... too baggy and way too much reflector material sewn on. I also don't like the new hats with those edges. they look like US highway-cops... And the Brandenburg design makes them look like Volkspolizei...:|

Yes, the hats are not very popular (most officiers don't wear a hat anyway). But the new trousers are really comfortable and handy because they have more pockets and don't look like a carrot.
On the whole the new (northern) blue uniform is a good change from the old seventies green yellowish uniform to a modern adaquate one.

Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Niedersachsen and Bremen have the same design.
And they do look pretty damn good imo.
do you know who created the uniforms for the police in northern germany? calvin klein, no joke!
they wanted to internationalize more equipment, and even introduced harleys for motorcycle cops...(that were put out of service soon because their top speed was too low for german traffic conditions)
by the way, actually only some states (mostly the northern and eastern ones) and the federal police switch the colour of their gear from green to blue (except hessia, which has switched the colour of highway police cars from green-white to blue-silver, but did not change the uniforms).
however the old uniforms will remain in ten or so states, the only changes are related to the cars which are delivered in green-silver now instead of green-white. pretty confusing, what?
on the one hand the actual german uniforms look not very serious, on the other hand they better should use the money to pay policemen higher salaries. only a few want to became policemen in these days, the average age of a german officer is over fourty and something years.

Calvin Klein? The uniform is designed by Luigi Colani, Tom Tailor and a group of Hamburg police officers.

That's because the states hire fewer recruits and more officers retire, not because people don't want to join the police. The number of applicants is very high these days.

These leather jackets (like the one shown in your picture) were sorted out long ago.
The newer leather jackets like this one won't be sorted out because they're practical and look cool.

Funny.... we hired in Poland Bernard F. Hanaoka and group of students form Academy of Arts... anyway new polish uniform is not yet defined we have some concept designs and lot of drawings. I think next week we will sort it and decide which designs should be continued and tested,

Couple more photos from tests we are currently conducting. 80 sets were distributed in various units across country to collect data and opinions about new uniforms. Since my dirty hands woot took part in development of new uniforms I am very interested in your opinions. Of course work is not finished yet, we will introduce more items (winter) and of course those introduced now will be evaluated and changed according to troopers wishes.

I don't like baseball caps they look stupid and cheap and you need a proper head to look good in them... Plus everyone wears them differently making cap idea even worse...
Some nice hat would be cool or at least cap that is not spherical (rogatywka)

yeah i agree with Hermanek for once, the baseball caps look terrible!!!!!! get rid of them!!!!! So marmot take note.
Also, introduce more yellow like the British police have. How can i tell they are a police officer from far away? I couldn't to be honest. Navy blue is ok but you need some other signs that they are police, adding yellow would help fix this problem imo.

Baseball caps were introduced on DEMAND form police troopers. We will introduce other headgear later. We tried several designs of "rogatywka" style headgear but all of them looked silly.
And reflective equipment will be introduced later.

Those cops don't know whats good :) Me thinking boonie hat or other hat with rondo(brim) all around the head... Its cool to walk in the rain or in wet foliage and not have water behind the collar or red neck in the summer and it looks good... I'm not even saying about normal hat it would be probably to extravaganza for the guys... The trooper hats look sweet :)
