Good 'ol Newt. Still proving that he has the ethical sensitivity of a doorknob after all these years.

"The president of the United States got in trouble for committing a felony in front of a sitting federal judge,"
and...
"I drew a line in my mind that said, 'Even though I run the risk of being deeply embarrassed, and even though at a purely personal level I am not rendering judgment on another human being, as a leader of the government trying to uphold the rule of law, I have no choice except to move forward and say that you cannot accept ... perjury in your highest officials.
If he is saying that "if it's before a judge it's not ok, while if it's not before a judge, it is ok" is not hypocritical, then I don't know what is.

man i can't stand these stupid "family based groups" . Wow what a hypocrite this guy is. Didn't he also leave his wife when she had cancer or something?

Didn't Newt served divorce papers to his wife while she was recovering from her cancer surgery?
So much for the GOP's familiy values and compassionate conservatism.

pfff from what i can see the Republicans have no more morals than the democrats, i hate how the republicans make themselves out to be the family based party of values.
Didn't Newt served divorce papers to his wife while she was recovering from her cancer surgery?
Indeed he did.
He was incredible alright.

And how much did "The Book of Virtues" and former drug Czar William Bennett lose in casinos?

Well, according to the law, lying under oath is a felony, while simply lying is, well, not nice.
I think that is a simple non-hypocritcal distinction.
You do the first I think you should be thrown in jail, just like Scooter Libby, and Martha Stewart (and Bill Clinton SHOULD have been).
If you do it as a politician I would not vote for you. Unfortunately, not everyone thinks, that, so most of America keeps reelecting LIARS.

Oh who cares? He wasn't robbing 7-11's to pay his gambling debts was he? He wasn't crusading against gambling.
Who cares about Gingrich fooling around while his marriage was effectively over - he didn't lie about it in federal court, or ask others to, or use government resources to smear his accusers.
If fooling around is OK, as Clinton defenders contend it is, then Gingrich is even more OK. If it's not OK, then Gingrich is at worst, just like your parents. They told you not to steal, not to lie - but do you honestly think they never did? If those things are wrong, which I think they are, I still find value in people and organizations that point out that they are wrong.
The difference between the evil "family values crowd" and the left, is that the family values people recognize that even good people do bad things, and need help walking the straight and narrow. Failing to live up to those standards is a built-in contingency. The left simply contends there are no bad things- do what you want and damn the consequences. Between the two obnoxious extremes, it's easy to pick which one allows civilization to continue.

I just think its funny: A guy having an affair chasing around a guy having an affair. If the right wouldn't have made the affair an issue, it would've never been in front of a judge. If the affair was an issue (which it was), then Gingrich is certainly a hypocrite.

As a married man I always identified with Clinton to a certain extent because I guarantee you the first thing any married man is going to do when busted is deny, deny, deny......:)
The old Boston Red Sox player Jimmy Fox supposed got busted by his wife while with his girlfriend and he replied "Who you gonna believe baby, me or your lyin' eyes..."

That is funny. It's like a guy having an affair giving moral counseling to a guy having an affair. Oh the hilarity.

Gingrich was chasing Clinton around because he had allegations of rape against him! This is hardly the same thing.

Ha, your puny Logic is no use against these people. They are impervious to reason in their single-minded pusuit of the most heinous of cromes in their world-hypocrisy.
The way some people rail against hypocrisy, I wonder if they'd feel obliged to allow the guy down the street, after lending him a gun to kill a snake with, shoot them in the head if he subsequently turned it on them.
Iraq'n they would ;)

Good 'ol Newt. Still proving that he has the ethical sensitivity of a doorknob after all these years.
Clinton wasn't impeached for his ethics, it was for lying under oath. If he'd just said "sure, I got a blowjob so what?" That would have been the end of the so-called story.

My observations, especially after the last elections are:
The Democrats profess to support the gay agenda, and the republicans are the gay agenda. :)
I don't care if Newt had a threesome with the Olsen twins, Clinton was most definitely guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice.

Southerners
****ed around on their wives
Fiscally conservative
Neither served in the military
Both sought to re-shape modern US government.
Regardless of personal beliefs, both came to the center on social issues rather than appeal to the extremes in their parties.
Like it or not, Clinton will leave a positive legacy in the history books of the Presidency. Inspite of their ideological differences, Clinton and Gingrich compromised together on more substantial legislation than Clinton was able to acheive when the Democrats controlled congress in his first term. Whether he deserves the credit or not, Clinton's fiscal policies and reduction in the overall size of government should be a towering achievement. Unfortunately for everyone, it will be eclipsed by Monica's lips and 9/11.

I disagree. Clinton's legacy is that of sitting back and watching our enemies get stronger while he did nothing but get bj's from fat chicks and was busy allowing corporate corruption to flourish because he didn't want bad press about his supposed good economy. Global Crossing, Tyco, Arthur Anderson, Adelphia, Enron, etc. Clinton let them all slide and instead went after Microsoft.

Funny, the same people who say that are also the ones saying Scooter Libby is a victim of a witch hunt, despite both he and Clinton were charged with the same thing.

Acknowledging that Libby got caught in a witch hunt is not the same as saying he didn't lie to investigators. He and Clinton both lied it is true, yet I find Libby's offense much more forgivable since it was unnecessary since no initial crime had been committed. Clinton lied while being sued for ****** harrassment. Not exactly a benign obstruction of justice if you ask me.

The only reason Clinton was fiscally conservative was because the Republicans owned the Senate for most of his terms. As for both not serving in the military, one (Newt) Honored the military and the other (Bill) "Loathed the military" and was never hesitant to demonstrate his feelings...besides, not serving in the military fits the life history of most Americans. As for "Reshaping" modern US government...How? That is what politicians do, isn't it? Both are politicians, so they are alike? C'mon! You must be able to do better than that. It was not because of refuting personal beliefs that Clinton "came to the center..." It was an absolute political necessity and his own personal political style...Clinton is an admitted "triangulator". He has no ingrained "personal beliefs" except for what ever serves to enlarge his status is what he personally believes in. He is a political coward, always following polls and never once really "led" any position or fought for any position...Newt, on the other hand, stood way out front with the very bold "Contract With America". That more than anything is what enhanced Republican positions with the voters and forced Clinton to follow the Republican lead...As for fuçking around on their wives, well, that about covers 2/3rds of the male members of congress...all the Kennedy clansmen included.
So..I think the Clinton/Gingrich comparison is rather weak when you get down to political phliosophy...which are the differences that count since they are being compared as politicans. But, both are males, both might like the color blue, both are power brokers, both are good speakers, both know other politicians...that is not quite the liknesses/differences I was looking for. In my considered opinion, Clinton would not show up as a freckle on Gingriche's butt as far as political posture and depth of conviction is concerned.

I think you mistake me for a Democrat. I'm not, I'm a Reagan Republican. I have just come to the sad conclusion over the years that the primary goal of both parties, and particularly of guys like Clinton and Gingrich, is not anything noble or that there are any salient differences depending on which party is in power.
It appears to me that money, particularly campaign contributions, just to fund the next elections, and taking care of whoever is best able to fill that financial role, is all these guys care about, despite how they package it, or to whom they market it to.
I didn't used to feel that way, and I wish I didn't feel that way, now. But, after watching these guys work for thirty years of adulthood, I just don't see anything else there.

Clinton lied while being sued for ****** harrassment. Not exactly a benign obstruction of justice if you ask me.
Actually, while he did, technically, purger himself during the Paula Jones suit Lewinsky's name was included in the list of possible witnesses. The case was later dismissed by the judge, citing lack of evidence (during this Clinton claimed to have never had a ****** relationship...which is, of course, an act of purger).
Lewinsky was added into the Whitewater investigation as a witness and (since she was no longer at the White House and working up at Revlon...making LOTS of money for a recent intern) a possible point of evidence showing a trail of conspiracy on behalf of the Clintons, using close friends and supporters as routes to send people to keep them quiet (i.e. - don't talk ad you get a phat salary doing nothing).
He then lies about his relationship with Monica while this part of a the Whitewater testimony is going on...
Unfortunately, Starr looses control of the whole thing and the Republicans turn it into a *** scandal, during a period when the President is admired by a whole lot of women (come on, dude even had N.O.W on his side the same time they were hunting down the head of IBM for sleeping with a woman on his staff) and doing a better job at keeping fiscal control over the budget than most Republicans these days. People liked the guy. You only attack guys like that when they have Bush rating and during times of "relative" peace...
Anyways...*** was the tone at the time but the investigation had nothing to do with ***, they just wanted to know the relationship between the two.
Clinton was FAR worse than Newt, plain and simple. Clinton was a bad little boy who had problems keeping little willie under control and in a different world might even be considered a ****** predator of some sort.
Seriously, with everything we know today, if Clinton were some low mid-level white collar perp, he'd be forced to register anywhere he moved to. But he was president and event he BAR was willing to turn a blind eye to his absolute disgusting behavior and illegal actions.
Shows what you can buy with the right power.
Newt, he was a politician, as swarmy as the rest...look at the C-130 contacts to get an idea, but dude only cheated on his wife. I'll argue that if a self proclaimed go fearing man cheats on his wife he'll ƒuck over his constituency in a heart beat. That being said, he did not break the law doing it, just one of God's Commandments...which I could care less about.
No one should be defending either person's moral character. I think I would also seriously question the moral and ethical character of anyone who approves of these men.
