BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - U.S. troops fought a gunbattle overnight with insurgents near the holy Shiite city of Najaf to the south, killing 43 gunmen and destroying an anti-aircraft system belonging to the insurgents, the U.S. military in Baghdad said.
The battle, which began around 9:45 p.m. Monday close to Najaf and involved helicopter gunships, lasted several hours, a military spokesman said. No further details were immediately available

I often read the words "anti-Iraqi terrorist". What's this? I assume, you are talking about some kind of Arab, who is actually an anti-US terrorist....?

But their goal is not to weaken Iraq as such, but to weaken support for the Coalition-forces. Iraqis being anti-Iraqi terrorists - that's an antagonism, or perhaps another "Bushism".

Who are "they"? Iraq is a mess of different groups.
There are the initial insurgents that started setting up roadside bombs, last summer. Sympathizer's of the old regime?
There are those who blow up the Red Cross, and seems to target iraqi civilians. Al Queda sympathizer's?
There are those that attack shia target's worshippers and mosque's.
A sunni-shia thing? Internal shia rivalry? Or perhaps Al Queda sympathizers trying to setup a civil war.
There are those sunni's in Fallujah, alienated from the very beginning by events back in april 2003.
And now Sadr's shia sympathizers, as well a many other fractions.

Sorry, but i don't get the meaning of this phrase - who are the "world's terrorist"? ICDC, UN, red cross are no Iraqi institutions - attacking them is terrorism but not anti-Iraqi...
But this is getting way off topic now...
