There may be problems getting them through customs, if you order from abroad, because of the law just mentioning, guns using CO2, air, or spring, not HFC134, Propane etc.
The sound isn't as loud as a real gun (ofcourse :) ), it varies a bit from model to model, a metal slide will increase the bang a bit.
The biggets problem in Sweden is that it's hard to get the less powerful hfc134 that most of the GBB:s are made to use, wich means you have to use green gas (propane) wich is more powerful and increases wear and the risk of breaking parts.
Myself I have a KWA M9 heavy weight, as most gbb:s it's guite fun to shoot, even if the "recoil" isn't really close to a real one, it's still there.

The best 1911s are made by Western Arms, and are some of the best GBBs made. However they are more expensive then your average GBB. If this is your first GBB you're hoping to get, I suggest something cheap and reliable.
KSC Glocks and TM Berattas are the best for your first purchase.
Thanks for the awnsers about gbb, but i think it's more Cap guns im itressed in.

I have a Marushin XM177E2 currently pretending to be an Israeli M653 (think) CAR-15 (just has a carbine style A1 type barrel section on it instead of the XM flashhider it came with).
I can't vouch for the handguns which are nearly all made of plastic, but the Marushin Plug Fire Cartridge (cap) rifles are incredible; nicely made zinc alloy bodies, all metal bits and bobs, and eject 5.56mm brass. Plenty loud enough for indoors. They generally come with 20rnd mags, but real steel 30rnders can be converted with a softer spring and little feed-ramp in the front and bingo, if you can be arsed to fill 30 cartridges with caps and load them into a mag, you have 30rnds of full-auto goodness.....but with no projectile.
Sadly the closest we in the UK can come to full-auto anything, more so than airsoft but of limited appeal since you can't target shoot or play games with them, just reenactment or collector's uses really.

I had a collection of Marusin PFC guns back in the day. They eventually fell apart. Not very durable - lots of cheap alloy and plastic parts which will eventually break. Plus the machined brass "rounds" are easy to lose when ejected from the gun.
Still, a neat thing to own, and a great wallhanger.
These guns are no longer available in the USA due to trademark & "orange tip" restrictions. They have become collector's items.
As far as I know the only blank-firing pistol replicas available are the 8mm models sold by Sportsman's Guide and Cheaper than Dirt. You also might want to check out Collector's Armoury.
Good luck.

Fair points, but if they're looked after well they do as you say make great wallhangers. The factory built guns were made in the early 80s and are still changing hands for over $400 here. They were arguably more durable, for example the XM177E2 in factory spec (like mine) has a steel machined flash-hider and bolt.
Also, if you 'use' the guns indoors, how difficult can it be to find the shells? ;)

Oh, absolutely. As models, they are great. I was just pointing out their limitiations for re-enacting and other forms of "play"
I still have two of my PFC guns, heaviliy modified and non-firing now. Here are some pics:

You can also see my "old school" Daisy Model 57 "SoftAir" revolver there, and the Beretta springer I bought from Vincent Wong for $60 when Airsoft was still in its infancy :D
Sorry about the popups, it's an old site I don't do much with anymore.
