Could someone ID the digital camo pattern the Marines are wearing? Could this be a Winter MARPAT variant?

It looks like something that they just slip on or wear on top of regular MARPAT, just like the all-white camo that U.S. soldiers wear over their regular camo. Nice pic.

Hey, that's cool. New to me.

As HiSpeed said, they're most likely overwhites, judging by how they look, stitching and stuff. Not really a new variant per se, just kinda something you put on over your BDU's.

It's been posted here before mate. Try the search and see what's been said in the other thread.

Go to usmc.mil, find the picture gallery and do a search on "winter", scroll down the page and you'll find a couple of photos with this new "MARPAT Snow camo oversuit" (don't know what the official nomenclature is).

The caption to this photo reads:
"Marines from Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division conduct combat marksmanship proficiency drills during the winter mountain operations course at the Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport last month."

Jeez - sometimes I wonder how some people manage to even find this forum (since they seem to be so computer-illiterate).

P.S. Here's the full story: http://www.marines.mil/marinelink/mcn2000.nsf/lookupstoryref/200729183436

Oh yaep... for some is much more easy to start a new thread (AFAIK the next # on the topic) than use "search" function (third from left on blue tool bar)...

it took me 30 sec.

marine corps winter camo? (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?t=105147&page=2&highlight=Winter+Marine+camo)

"Jeez - sometimes I wonder how some people manage to even find this forum (since they seem to be so computer-illiterate)."

You could have left that out super computer dude!

Isn't the point of a forum to collect and share knowledge?

I love when people take the time to post an answer then complain about having to do so.

OUT!

The purpose of this site is to facilitate discussion about military photos/issues. The best way to do that is to keep all related discussion about a particular subject or photo in the original thread about that subject/photo. Otherwise, the discussion becomes disjointed and people end up repeating themselves, or people who do use the search function have to sift through loads of aborted threads to find the 'original'. That is a good reason why new members are asked to read the rules before posting, and are advised to use the search function to see if there are similar/related threads that cover their chosen topic prior to posting. It is also rather lazy and rude to expect other members to look around for them. I'm not talking about this case, but it happens quite often. "ID this ____" etc.

Agreed...
However, in this particular case, I thought the dude was rude and acted like an ass.

I think one, just one remind is good enough for me, I don't like having a mob reminding to 'Use the search function, dumbass!'.

Yes, that just complicates the problem. The thread ends up getting bumped by people telling you to use the search, often after someone has already answered the query or posted a link to the other thread(s)!

Well back on topic - it's a new experimental snow camo which might eventually be adopted by all branches of the US armed forces. It's not based on MARPAT.
