Flag was signed by the SgtMaj of the I MEF & a few Marines in the unit. I sent the SgtMaj care packages he would passed them out to Marines who didn't get much mail.

at the time of the photo Lt.General Amos was the commanding General of the II MEF. SgtMaj Himsworth is still the SgtMaj of the II MEF & the Marine on the end is MSgt Lassiter an old family friend.

Peole seem to forget this fact a lot these days. (but of course if you are in a combat zone you dont realy give a f*** about that which I also understand)

that's what I first thought too - but then I think no matter where they are or why they are there its their good right (and maybe even duty) to remember 9/11 as it a symbolical reason for their fight in general - and its also never wrong to show the victims respect by remembering them.

The troops / Marines holding the 9 / 11 pic over the rock & in front of the door, was taken in AFGHANISTAN. Sorry I didn't make that photo more clear. The rest of the pics were taking in Iraq. One was taken down at Camp Pendleton, before the unit deployed out to Iraq.

I know they came AFTER we got there, but Al'qaeda is in Iraq fighting the Iraqis and the US everyday. :roll:

Kudos to you for admitting your reasons for Iraq were wrong.

Regarding today's situation, it is a complete mess. It is impossible to judge what reason which insurgents group is fighting for and where do they come from. Insurgents don't wear Al-Qaeda badges and patches, IMHO, any claims about connections to Bin Laden's network are dubious at best and I got strong suspicion that their links to Al-Qaeda are more than often sucked out from a finger in order to fool the public and to find some excuse for the ill-suited invasion.

OTOH, many Iraqis fight for simpler reasons that some kind of global terrorism support. Rage, dispair, revenge for loss of family members or house, defense of their homeland, choose whatever you want. And if they cannot fight personally (age, physical condition, fear) they at least financially support those who hire mercs from over the border.

What would you do if Iraqi AF destoyed your property in a single attack and killed three members of your family? Would you accept their apologies like: sorry, sh!t happens, our reasons to go to America were wrong!? You made many people there having nothing more to lose. Those will be the first ones to engage you. And they don't need any radical Imam or Al-Qaeda to persuade them. Think about it a little.

Look, Mr. Alex L. or how do they call you. Before you call someone a joke, you surely would love to tell us about yourself, what a great contribution for the whole mankind you are, so that you feel entitled to judge the others. If you are unable to do that, then I appreciate you to keep you big mouth shut.

As for the all-present connections to Iraq and 9/11, if those are so easy to reach, I would just love you to collect some for me and other forum members and present them here, two or three paramount issues will be enough. It is a much more effective way than let dozens of posters search the hundreds of threads. Webmaster of this site will surely be grateful to you for keeping the bandwidth low. Thanks in advance for your willingness to enlighten us all here.
