Ahmadinejad Blasts UNSC
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the UN Security Council plays no role but trampling upon nations' rights and voicing support for the crimes and policies of certain powers.

"They have created a body named the Security Council and they say that it is responsible for defending world security. But thanks God, the curtains of lie were unveiled and everyone saw this council has no role but trampling upon nations' rights and voicing support for the crimes and policies of certain arrogant powers, and all nations have now found out that this council is just a tool," Ahmadinejad told the local residents in the city of Ardakan in central Iran during the second leg of his 26th tour of the different provinces of the country.

He further noted the Israeli regime's 33-day war against Lebanon, and mentioned, "We witness how the Security Council provided the Zionist regime with an opportunity to gain superiority over the Lebanese people."

"…and they intend to take the same action against the Iranian people and they want to utilize the instrument of the Security Council to block the Iranian nation's progress," the president added.

He further called on the Security Council to release a report of all its measures and decisions to show where it has restored the rights of any given nation and to explain why they have sought to defend the interests of the big powers on every scene they have entered.

"Today the Iranian nation has acquired the nuclear fuel production cycle completely, and if you all get together and become united, you won't be able to stop movement of the Iranian nation," Ahmadinejad continued.

Stressing that Iran is legally entitled to the use of the nuclear fuel production cycle, he said that the Iranian nation is vigilant today, and stated, "They say that they want to impose sanctions on us. But when have we asked them for anything."

"Have you ever rendered any help to us that you want to take it back? You must know that we will never seek your help and assistance," the president said while addressing big powers.

He reminded that Iran has lived under economic embargoes in the last 27 years, adding, "You boycotted us and we gained nuclear technology, now if you impose sanctions on us, you will see the Iranian nation taking the next steps of progress."

Ahmadinejad underlined that adoption of such measures as passing resolutions against Iran creates problems for the other parties themselves, and reminded, "You must know that every resolution you pass, you create more problems for yourselves and move away from the settlement of the issue."

Reminding that all the reports presented by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear activities and programs have stressed that the Iranian nation has not taken any step in violation of the rules and regulations, he said, "What Iran is doing is 100 percent legal. The Iranian people will continue their path with much power and might and no one can backtrack from this path even for an inch." http://www.farsnews.com/English/newstext.php?nn=8512240136

Item 5(d) of the provisional agenda
(GOV/2007/6)
Implementation of the NPT Safeguards
Agreement and Relevant Provisions of Security
Council Resolution 1737 (2006) in the Islamic
Republic of Iran
Report by the Director General
1. On 14 November 2006, the Director General reported on the implementation of the NPT
Safeguards Agreement in the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran) (GOV/2006/64).
2. On 23 December 2006, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 1737 (2006), in
which the Council, inter alia:
• affirmed that Iran shall without further delay take the steps required by the Board of
Governors in resolution GOV/2006/14, which are essential to build confidence in the
exclusively peaceful purpose of its nuclear programme and to resolve outstanding questions
(operative para. 1);
• decided that Iran shall without further delay suspend the following proliferation sensitive
nuclear activities:
– all enrichment related and reprocessing activities, including research and development,
to be verified by the Agency; and
– work on all heavy water related projects, including the construction of a research
reactor moderated by heavy water, also to be verified by the Agency (operative
para. 2);
• decided that Iran shall provide such access and cooperation as the Agency requests to be able
to verify the suspension outlined above and to resolve all outstanding issues, as identified in
Agency reports, and called upon Iran to ratify promptly the Additional Protocol (operative
para. 8);
Also in the report to be fair to Iran.

26. Pursuant to its NPT Safeguards Agreement, Iran has been providing the Agency with access to
declared nuclear material and facilities, and has provided the required nuclear material accountancy
reports in connection with such material and facilities.
However

28. Iran has not suspended its enrichment related activities. Iran has continued with the operation of
PFEP. It has also continued with the construction of FEP, including the installation of cascades, and
has transferred UF6 to FEP. Iran has also continued with its heavy water related projects. Construction
of the IR-40 Reactor, and operation of the Heavy Water Production Plant, are continuing. In contrast,
there has been no indication of reprocessing related activities at any declared sites in Iran.
29. As underscored by the Director General at the meeting of the Board of Governors in
November 2006 (GOV/OR. 1174, paras 86–94), given the existence in Iran of activities undeclared to
the Agency for 20 years, it is necessary for Iran to enable the Agency, through maximum cooperation
and transparency, to fully reconstruct the history of Iran’s nuclear programme.

What a joke. Amadinajad can't keep saying no no no, no to inspections, and then blame everyone for his problems. It's not a one way street.

I wish he would come clean, while we apologize for calling them an Axis of Evil. But not without apologies from them for Death to America rallies, hostage taking, embassy defacement, Great Satin Park, Wipe Israel off the Map ect......... Bad blood on both sides here and only the two of us (US and Iran) can make this happen. Then I hope to have friendly relations and be able to visit with very little to worry about from Iranian or American policies. I can hope for the best can't I while being prepared for the worst.

I am curious why would they have to apologize to the U.S. and not Israel for that. The U.S. should just be content if they apologized about the attacks against the U.S. expecting apologies for comments made against Israel is expecting too much.

Well until they do change their map wiping attitude, they have no business with nuclear enrichment technologies. Being Israel is an ally and the land of my kin I am biased. They can hate Jews in Israel all they want but they must live with Israel being a nation. I want them to stop this crap, all of it. The faning the flames in Lebanon and Palestine, funding terrorist operations against Israel and of course the Death Chant rallies.

Israel has things to do also, but death wishes from Iran will not help Palestine or Iran's peaceful nuclear power needs.

Perhaps relations will start warming up given that the current Iranian nutcase President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has no chance in hell of winning re-election. He honestly has no real power to "wipe Israel off the map", but his remarks have not helped relations and have kept the real power brokers from taking blame for their foreign policies as it attains to U.S. and Israeli relations in the region keeping them from having to make compromises with the West.

Agreed, all parties will have to meet in the middle somehow. Iran is such a wonderful country full of good people, beautiful lands, long colorful history and good food.:)
It is ashame what has become of the world over the past 30 years. As much as I want a good outcome here and hand holding smiling faces, my gut tells me things are going to get much worse.

I have lots of personal experience with that part of their culture.:) I agree, but I think the West might be taking a far too aggressive stance as it relates to their internal social-political policies and is probably working against Iranian born movements to make real lasting changes to their political power system. It all comes back to hunt the West in the end since those in power will brand any pro-democracy as being anti-Iranian and relations with the West will continue to be as is if not worse as a result. The West should place as much pressure on Iran for their nuclear program, but the West would be wise not to comment or actively participate in their internal political change by not providing funding or open support for pro-democracy movements. Iran will change its social-political system on its own given time at its own pace as it should be any involvement by the West will only slow it down and breed a lot of resentment towards the West regardless as to the outcome.

I am one who does not like covert ops like that. I do not know if a majority of Iranians are happy with the form of religious goverment they have. I am sure most have ideas on how things need to improve there. I agree with what you say, how can we expect them to act rationaly when we are formenting subversive movements in the country. I do not know if we are but considering the money appropriated for such things I would not be surprised. I doubt I would take kindly to the neighbor working covertly with the Iranians.

The real failing here is the UN/IAEA. In both the case of Iraq and Iran the UN has enabled backdoor ways to subvert the UNSC. We Americans act rash and want things done now, Iran has religious ferver, Iraq played with fire and got burnt. Now is the time for the world to get off the high horse, do the right things, help Iraq, reform the UN, stop enabling law breakers and dragging out these issues for decades.

The openness of the Western world makes us much more acceptable to this propaganda. As of some time next week, I will have left leaning people around the water cooler telling me that its absolutely 100% true.

Interesting that Eugene Ionesco had tremendous insight, he wrote a play about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The play was called the "Leader", or "Our future is in eggs, it takes all sorts to make the world".

He is right about UNSC. I don't think he should be laughed at everytime for every one of his statement. It gets boring quickly.

Yes, the guy usually has good, valid points. Then totally buries them by going off on a tangent with absurd cliams of zionist-satan-west conspiracies. And talking about wiping israel off the map and killing everyone. He could garner huge support from the arab world if his rhetoric was a bit more moderate. Iran could be a leader in the middle east, but any arab leader would be commiting political suicide on the world stage by getting too close to this guy.
