Estonia bans sale of Borjomi mineral water
TALLINN. March 22 (Interfax) - Estonian health authorities banned the sale of Georgia's Borjomi mineral water from springs 38 and 41 on Wednesday.
They said the ban was prompted by an excessive content of barium in the mineral water.
In addition, there is no Borjomi on the list of natural mineral waters released by the European Commission. Mineral water, which is not on that list, cannot be sold in EU member countries.
Lithuanian veterinarian and food authorities found an excessive concentration of barium in Borjomi earlier.
Now I wonder where are all the headlines about oppression, economic warfare and how Estonia is attempting to crush a young, democratic country.
Meanwhile it seems that the Kremlin is getting more assertive. After banning Polish meat and attempting to damage it's no.1 enemy that way, it is now attempting to overthrow India and Pakistan: http://www.domain-b.com/economy/trade/20070324_oilseeds.html
Mumbai: Russia may impose a ban on the import of rice, sesame and groundnut from India following the seizure of several shipments of Indian food products containing banned pesticides and other contaminants. Unless the government takes corrective measures, India's agriculture produce exports to Russia may permanently be stalled.
Russia's agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said it had seized several shipments of Indian rice, sesame and groundnut after finding banned pesticide, contaminants and insecticides in the products.
The agency now wants India to provide safety certificates on its food exports, detailing the use of pesticides and other specifics.
"If India fails to comply with the requirement, Rosselkhoznadzor will impose restrictions starting May 1, until measures are taken to guarantee compliance with Russian food safety standards," the agency said in a release.
Russia had earlier banned import of rice and other agriculture products from Pakistan, after a dangerous bug was found in the shipments from that country.
