Wanted: Rumsfeld, Sanchez and Kimmitt

Cairo - Hundreds of leaflets distributed in the embattled western Iraqi town of Fallujah on Wednesday offered a $15-million (about R60-million) reward for anyone who kills any of three top American officials involved in operations in Iraq.

The leaflets, reported by the Qatar-based al-Jazeera and other electronic media, show pictures of United States Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, top US General in Iraq Ricardo Sanchez and General Mark Kimmitt, who acts as military spokesperson in Iraq.

The money was "a reward (to) who brings one of these heads. Contact Islamic resistance offices in Iraq," said the leaflet, written in both Arabic and English and showing pictures of the three. - Sapa-dpa

If they have 15 million dollars, i highly doubt they would be fighting us with homemade rocket launchers, donkey cart mortars and 40year old kalashnikovs.

That's how they were able to save the 15 million dollars. They had to cut back on expenses... ;)

Okay, I'll bite...

No, Helex, the money offered was a realistic tactic/ploy used by the U.S. Military forces and Government , as an attempt to coerce or tempt a member of the inner-circle of the aforementioned Bad Guys. It was a legitimate offer from reputable, stable individuals. If you are already a paranoid mufugga at the best of times, don't you reckon the Good Guys would be banking on your stress-o-meter to be ratcheted up a few dozen notches if you KNEW that every donkey cart driver, every grieving widow, every kid on the street, every person you had ever wronged (and between your Saddam, sons and others motley crew, I think there might be a few...) might dob you in to the friendly Oakley-wearing Gringos in order to become an instant Department of Defence Lotto winner. That's called PsyOps, Helex. I think ibstolidude might elaborate upon it a bit more eloquently than I could.

The leaflet on the other hand,is an attempt to do...what...? Inspire the elite Iraqi Para-Raider regiment inside Washington D.C. to conduct a snatch-and-grab on Donald Rumsfeld? They aren't in America, America is in THEIR country, yeah??
Seriously, how on earth could there even be a remote chance of a) the money really being there b)Contacting them by you dialing 1-555- Islamic resistance offices of Iraq and getting a reply...(maybe try the yellow pages!!! )
and lastly c) Anyone not appropriately authorised to get within spitting distance, let alone chop off your head ala' Highlander Distance, of any of the three Good Guys from the leaflet? I would imagine the protective detail assigned to each of them would be...well, lets just say they'd be ..formidable, at the very least. (Better than Ghaddafi's female Cuban ones, at any rate! ;) )

So in response to your post Helex, no, it was not an act of desperation, whareas this Irqi attempt at doing the same, IS.

Because U.S. HAVE the money, the insurgents/terrorists have 15 million dollars when they pull it out of their ass.
