I need help with restoring and id of a WW2 Mauser bayonet that I restoring.
I think it was made in 1942 and it was in ok condiston, some of the leather was hard and one of the seams was broken.
The factory mark on it is WaA519 and I was wondering what factory it came from. how would you repair the seam, it looks like tread but I not quite sure.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Nice seitengewehr, mine looks just like it. the broken seam should be stitched with thin white thread like the rest of the frog, but as it is original, I wouldn't do anything with it, just leave it on a shelf to look at. It's in nice condition, don't try to ruin the authenticity!
If you wanna go airsofting or whatever, get a repro frog for $15 from a dealer like www.atthefront.com (http://www.atthefront.com) !!
Edit: you're in ireland, try sofmilitary.co.uk
edit2: Since you don't accept PM's, here it is:
hey, I saw this pic:

That guy is wearing M44 goggles (not used until VERY LATE 1944, and into 1945)
1980's brown V-neck sweater
and most importantly: a M1 carbine with a bayonet lug and a bayonet, not introduced until after the war......
I hope he didn't provide you with too much "information" !!!

Thanks. I might do that.
I think he talked more about call of duty than anything else.
