Does anyonw here know of any novels written about the US Marines during WWII? The only I can really think of was "The Big War" which was a good read. I know WEB Griffen did some but his weren't exactly about what the Marines really did in the war.
If James or anyone else has insight into this, it's greatly appreciated.
If it's out of print, I don't mind, mention it anyway.

Leon Uris - Battle Cry. It's told at different times in either first- or third-person, and follows a fictional unit of Marines in the Sixth Regiment through Guadalcanal, Tarawa, and Saipan. I liked it alot although as I remember it's an older book (written in the 50's I think).

Battle Cry is awesome. Read it.

Another title to look for is (I think) "The Right Kind of War". Shame on me, but I can't remember the author right now.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what English teachers now, but this English teacher, for one, knows quite a bit. ;)

Check out thw writings of James Brady as well. I've read a novel of his about Korea, but I think he's written a couple about WWII also.
