Nice pictures guys, all of them.
Ordie, just a question: the Argentine "Patricios" conmemorate the Argentine militia that defeated the British attempts at invading Argentina at the beginning of the 1800's, correct?

The British attempt was during the Napoleonic Wars while Buenos Aires was still under the Spanish Crown. Because of the threat, the local Viceroy allowed for the organization of militias. Patricios being one of them. Because the locals were able to repluse the British, there was a new sense of autonomy and eventual independence.
Ironically, both Simon Bolivar and San Martin, Penninsular War vets, were able to return and start thier respective liberation movement thanks to British backing and funding. Eventually opening trade and investment over time that included railways and the introduction of Futbol.
If the British were to be successful in settling Buenos Aires and the Pampas, we would have seen a similar situation that happened in South Africa. Where the Boers migrated inland to set up thier states. Likewise we would have seen Criollos (Latin American born Spanish gentry) set up an independant states in Cordoba, Tucuman, and Mendoza.
