Hi, I am making a data sheet for the AMX-10RC french recon vehicle, and I have a couple of questions:

1- The main armament is a 105mm rifled or smooth bore gun.
2- What are the french designation names for the rounds of the main gun.
3- What was the old transmission and what is the new one

Best regards

1- The main armament is a 105mm rifled or smooth bore gun.
105mm(48 Cal)CN-105-F2 rifled gun;manual loading 38(12 ready,26
stowed)APFSDS-T, HEAT-T, HE-T Early versions:105 mm BK MECA L/48
(Vo 800 m/s)

2- What are the french designation names for the rounds of the main gun.
Find info:GIAT Industries-pénétrateur en tungstène(masse projectile
3,8 kg, vitesse initiale 1 400 m/s,portée 1 000 m)charge creuse(masse
projectile 5,7 kg,vitesse initiale 11 120 m/s)explosif à grande
puissance(masse projectile 7,1 kg,vitesse initiale 800m/s)fumigène
entraînement.

3- What was the old transmission and what is the new one
No info, but:A 280hp Baudouin 6F 11 SRX engine replaced the original
engine(HS-115) in some upgrades. In 1997 the French army
demonstrated a version of the Leclerc
Battlefield Management System on the AMX-10RC.

Just a few questions regarding this point:

- Is the CN105F2 a derivative of the CN105F1, which equips the AMX-30 battle tank??.
- Is the CN105F2 a low pressure gun??
- The AMX-10RC carries 38 rounds, 12 are stored in the turret but the other 26 where?? I supose the are on the drivers right, but this is in my oponion dangerous. Can someone confirm this point??

11.120 m/s for the Charge Creuse is not too much???? What means Charge Creuse?? HEAT??

ummm.... that is a little bite strange, I don't now why is so difficult to find that transmissions.

Yes it is true the upgraded AMX-10RC will have a Battlefield Management System. It will be the SIT-V1 (Systeme Information Terminale - V1) developed by NEXTER (Formerly GIAT) and is a development of the FINDERS, which equip the Leclerc.

There are two turret configurations for the AMX 10RC: the TK 105 turret with light 105mm gun or the TML 105 turret with 105mm NATO standard gun, both manufactured by Giat Industries. The TK 105 and TML 105 turrets use a mantlet sight, which is firmly linked to the movements of the gun for firing accuracy.

The TML 105 turret has a conveyor for storing and loading ammunition rounds. The Giat Industries APFSDS (armour-piercing, fin-stabilised, discarding sabot) 105 F1 round, fired by the TML 105 gun, can destroy single and triple NATO heavy tanks at a distance of 2,200m. The hit probability is stated as higher than 90% at 2,000m.

The hydropneumatic suspension is supplied by Messier Auto Industrie.

For more info and details ask Baron Harkonnen! He is the "tank professor" in Mil.Photos forum.

looks like a cool vehicle, has it been battle-tested in french operations or training exercises (in contrast to a testing field) ?

It was used in Chad against Lybian forces and their proxies in the mid 1980s and in Desert Storm IIRC.

Yes, it is combat proven at least in the following operations:

- Operation Manta, Tchad, 1983-1984
- Operation Daguet, Irak, 1991
- KFOR
- SFOR
- Operation Eparvier, Côte d'Ivory, 2006 at least, probably other deployments before.

You should consider that this vehicle is in service since 1979 in the french army.
